My dear nerds! Who uses a #Markdown to #HTML converter on the command line on #Linux… and which one of these?
Perhaps it is time for the web 1.0 again, like sharing information on stupid, dumb, static web pages. Without fancy layout. Just because sharing information was something the elder did, and it felt good.
Like some of us did in 1999 or so.
Some fine day there will be a Google alternative allowing you to find these. A view from above to this web full of information… we could call it… Altavista, or something…
For HTML6, I'd like to see a ``<nobody>``-tag, that displays when you want your website to feel lonely.
We are doing this conference at Media of Cooperation in June ... It is called THE DATAFIED WEB, and it will be a blast! Registration for #RESAW25 is now open. Please spread widely, and do not forget to check out the marvelous programme at https://www.datafiedweb.net!
Really looking forward to everything, especially the keynotes by @nthylstrup on "Vanishing Points: Technographies of Data Loss" and @jwyg on "Public Data Cultures"!

I'm not the first person to be saying this, but the days of replying "JFGI" ("just fucking google it") to someone asking what you assume is a question easily answered by search engines – are over.
I really, really hate what the web has become.

The #www is 36 years old. For comparison, my oldest child is one year younger than I was when Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the WWW.
Of any technology invented through history, this one is way up there in S-tier, right next to fire.
On March 12, 1989, Tim Berners-Lee submitted a proposal for an information management system to his boss at CERN. “Vague but exciting” was his feedback. The project later became the World Wide Web.
Thank you, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, for changing the world!
#OnThisDay #Birth of the World Wide Web (#WWW): On 12 March 1989 Berners-Lee issued a proposal, titled "Information Management: A Proposal", which used the term "web".
The 1993 Mumbai bombings took place in Mumbai on 12 March 1993. The single-day attacks resulted in 257 fatalities and 1,400 injuries.
Today is World Day Against #Cyber #Censorship.
@briankrebs it is basically ww3 in slo mo whereas before it was more of a proxy war (of many) - with regards to the economy everybody knows we are in a superbubble - it could unwind gradually or it could burst tomorrow; more than likely it will be some sort of shock that gets things rolling and then dominoes start to fall #mkt deadwood

I'm giving WaterFox a try after recent decisions at Mozilla corp. What's your favorite Firefox fork?
in case you missed it: back in 2016, before the US general election, we published this browser game, "election fighter", to test our visualization engine :) at the time, we never could have imagined that we would have to see what we're seeing today happening. truly revolting! perhaps this game can still serve its original purpose: to help you de-stress :)
I started building websites in the ASCII art days, before GUIs (even before backgrounds and rainbow bars!) and it’s something I’ve been trying to let go of for the last 15 or so years. Web dev is in my zone of “I can do it” but not really my zone of professional competence much less genius.
I have a love/loathe relationship with it.

Some great stuff from @thisisaaronland here, focused on cultural heritage but relevant widely.
On the web, the unglamorous “plywood” of digital, which if we can finally let go of chasing eyeballs, might let us ”foster discovery and revisiting on the time scale of the humanities rather than the marketplace.”

讓人痛苦的 UX:分開的 login code
在「The UX of login codes」這篇看到的,講的是 one-time password 的輸入設計問題:
這東西超多 designer 喜歡用,但對於 user experience (UX) 以及資安角度來說都很差。
先從 UX 的部分來
