I'm trying to use <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Vespucci" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vespucci</span></a> to edit a place, but half of the suggested tags are not officially recommended by the wiki, or are deprecated. It would seem logical to me that a reference database exists where apps can periodically retrieve all the recommended tags and their values.</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/OSM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OSM</span></a></p>

MapAm💜re<p>A couple of folks I met yesterday were pimping their (private) enhanced version of another <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> app, and kvetching about some missing features. </p><p>I pimped <a href="https://en.osm.town/tags/vespucci" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vespucci</span></a> back, and they're so amazed it had all they wanted, plus more -- but unfortunately not available in their fruity tablet. 😅</p>

Working on a small screen isn't advisable anyways for complex edit operations. Therefore, I usually make notes and edit on desktop for anything that is more complex than a simple POI. Never used the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/iD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iD</span></a> editor on mobile.</p><p>I also use <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/OsmAnd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OsmAnd</span></a> for recording GPX tracks and creating OSM notes.</p>

Someone recently pointed me to Every Door every-door.app, and having tried it out now, I can say its UI is really, really good for updating and adding POIs on #OpenStreetMap.

I’d really love to get an Android tablet just for the purpose of connecting my RTK corrected multi-GNSS receiver to #Vespucci. I just cannot find myself putting money into something that will become electrical waste in 2 years.

#MappingChallenge (Day 08/50)

Tried out the @vespucci_editor for the first time. Only saw brief tutorials about it in the past. Took me a couple of minutes to get the hang of it.

For now I would rate it better than #iDeditor in power mapping, though not as good as #JOSM.

For my use-case it is perfect for mapping buildings and driveways. Adding new landuse will have to wait, though touching up existing ones is manageable.
