The company has always had an internal policy, like most other corporate social networks, to allow <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/HateSpeech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HateSpeech</span></a> and other <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/misinformation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>misinformation</span></a> to proliferate, as these drive the engagement metrics that drive revenue, on top of often aligning with the values of leadership. </p><p>At <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechHub</span></a>, our policy has, so far, been a "wait and see" approach. We have not blocked Threads yet, but if the time comes when they do finally federate, if ever, we are committed to the plan of taking server level action should their lack of moderation become too much of a problem for us.</p><p>Either way, this only underlines the need to bring more people into the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fediverse</span></a> network, and away from the large corporate <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SocialNetworking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SocialNetworking</span></a> services.</p>

The consequences of this will be disastrous, not only because it will end all regulation of his businesses, but will allow him to directly attack the Fediverse using regulatory levers. While it's not clear if there is any legal backing for this, most <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/US" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>US</span></a> based <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/servers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>servers</span></a> cannot handle this.</p><p>This is on top of the partisan fight over <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/NetNeutrality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetNeutrality</span></a>, which Trump went after during his time in office, but Harris will likely protect, just as previous Democrats did.</p><p>That is why I have no choice, not simply as an <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/American" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>American</span></a> citizen in a marginalized group, but <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechHub</span></a>'s head of <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/moderation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>moderation</span></a>, to tell my fellow American users to vote for Kamala Harris.</p><p>Our <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Network" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Network</span></a> may depend on it.</p>

This has been, quite reasonably, interpreted as a refusal to moderate open bigotry on the timeline.</p><p>Controversial ideas are welcome, even necessary to a healthy discussion, but there is a fine line between new and interesting additions to the conversation, and hate speech, harassment, and (most importantly) misinformation. That is the concern that has even relatively block-hesitant servers like <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechHub</span></a> getting squeamish.</p><p>...and personally, you being here isn't really our main issue, it's the things we're hearing in the discussion that are making us wary.</p>

nicdex 🇨🇦 🇺🇦<p>Hello <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/techhub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techhub</span></a>, this morning issue is resolved now 💪 .</p><p>- <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/transparency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>transparency</span></a> about the issue -<br>the service had a lot of back-end jobs to process due to removing the spam accounts we suspended a month ago. Mix in the default logging configuration 🤦, it was enough to fill up the disk hosting the /var/log folder. Like 80+GB of logs in 24h. Anyhow I am learning from this and reviewed the logging configurations for all servers. 😎 </p><p>I hope you are having a great week-end so far. Have a nice day 😀.</p>
