#SamanthaHegseth also has communicated w/the #FBI as part of its vetting of Hegseth. As reported by NBC, during the 2nd of 3 briefings it provided to the #Senate #ArmedServices Cmte’s Republican & Democratic leaders, Sens Roger Wicker & Jack Reed, the #Trump transition team told Wicker & Reed that Samantha spoke w/the FBI regarding her ex-husband & provided “a prepared statement” stating that #PeteHegseth has had & continues to have an alcohol abuse problem.

Since her #PeteHegseth’s nomination, #SamanthaHegseth has only commented publicly about him once in response to a request from NBC for comment on an affidavit submitted to the #Senate #ArmedServices Cmte by her fmr sister-in-law.

Samantha told NBC, “There was no *physical abuse in my marriage. This is the only further statement I will make to you, I have let you know that I am not speaking & will not speak on my marriage to Pete. Please respect this decision.”

The decree also incorporates a “parenting plan” with a provision entitled “Avoiding Derogatory Comments.” Under that provision, #PeteHegseth & #SamanthaHegseth are prohibited from saying “anything negative” about the other parent in front of their children, allowing “third parties within their control” to do so….

A July 2018 Minnesota state court #divorce decree reveals that #PeteHegseth has agreed to limits on what he & his 2nd wife, #SamanthaHegseth, whom he was married to from 2010 to 2017, can say about one another in public. (He has been married to Jennifer Rauchet since 2019.)

That decree, which is publicly available through Minnesota’s online court files, reflects findings of #fact & conclusions of #law & constitutes a court judgment.

Sen #TimKaine of Virginia, a Democratic member of the #ArmedForces Cmte, had asked the #Trump Cabinet pick during the Jan. 14 confirmation hearing if there were NDAs between him & his 1st wife, Meredith Schwarz, or 2nd wife, #SamanthaHegseth.

“Senator, it is not something I am aware of,” #PeteHegseth had responded. When pressed if he would release either of those women from the NDAs if they exist, Hegseth said, “Senator, that is not my responsibility.”
