Artemis<p>Hey fediverse, I did a thing!</p><p>We've now got some lovely rain barrels.<br>these started their lives transporting tapioca syrup from India, and now have a new career in water conservation.</p><p>All it took was about $50 of supplies and 5 hours. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so we'll see how they do.<br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/RainBarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainBarrel</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Crafting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Crafting</span></a></p>
Art(ificer), they/them<p>Finally installed my rain barrel! (Many thanks to my partner for painting it.) Not gonna get a tonne out of it just because of my region, but every bit counts! Now to convince my landlord to let us set up a greywater system... 😅🤔</p><p><a href="https://kind.social/tags/solarpunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>solarpunk</span></a> <a href="https://kind.social/tags/permaculture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>permaculture</span></a> <a href="https://kind.social/tags/RainBarrels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainBarrels</span></a> <a href="https://kind.social/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainbarrel</span></a> <a href="https://kind.social/tags/conservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>conservation</span></a> <a href="https://kind.social/tags/waterwise" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>waterwise</span></a></p>
Travis Southard<p>My rain barrel is in! Very excited about this and glad to be helping slow down storm water to help prevent raw sewage being dumped in our waterways.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/philadelphia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>philadelphia</span></a> is doing some very cool small-solutions-at-big-scale tactics for improving <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/watershed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>watershed</span></a> quality</p><p>Get your FREE rain barrel here: <a href="https://www.pwdraincheck.org/en/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">pwdraincheck.org/en/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainbarrel</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/solarpunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>solarpunk</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/climatesolutions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>climatesolutions</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/urbangardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>urbangardening</span></a></p>
Jason van Gumster<p>Finally got around to setting up a <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainbarrel</span></a> that we'd had sitting around forever. Took some doing. It used to be white and it was missing a plug cover. A few coats of paint and <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> a new cover and it was ready to install... Then I had to clean out my downspout.</p><p>The first night of rain, this thing collected over 30 gallons of water. Is that normal?</p><p>Kinda want to decorate it now. 😁</p>

rae<p>Last night's <a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/seattle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Seattle</span></a> thunderstorms brought enough that the first <a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainBarrel</span></a> is almost spilling over into the second. With some more rain in the forecast, these should be full-up before next weekend. I now have free water to use for the garden again.</p>
rae<p><a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/sundiy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SunDIY</span></a> completed the <a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainBarrel</span></a> project, I officially ran dry this week, and redid the risers with blocks/bricks on hand. The 3rd barrel spigot can take the big watering can under it now and not just a bucket. Found a hose I'd missed before and got more new washers in there. That $2 pack of washers has been one of the summer's best investments, I've used 8 of 12. <a href="https://sunbeam.city/tags/waitingforrain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WaitingForRain</span></a></p>
Greg Burrell<p>A few photos of this year's solar rainwater collection and delivery system. This year I had to replace the main battery and the charge controller after they weathered poorly last summer and stopped working. This summer's setup is hopefully more weather-resistant. Rebuilt the pump and it leaks a bit, I'll have to work on that.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/solardiy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>solardiy</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rainwater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainwater</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rainbarrel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainbarrel</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/solarpower" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>solarpower</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/urbanfarming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>urbanfarming</span></a></p>
