Families commemorate the 10th anniversary of a Germanwings plane crash in the French alps.

Monday marks the 10th anniversary of the Germanwings Flight 9525 plane crash, which killed all 150 people on board.

Memorial ceremonies are planned for 10:41am – the moment of the crash – at a German high school that lost many of its students and also in the French village of Le Vernet, near the crash site in the mountains.

Swedish Pirate Bay backer Carl Lundström dies in Slovenia plane crash.

Swedish entrepreneur and early backer of file-sharing website The Pirate Bay, Carl Lundström, died in a plane crash involving his own private aeroplane in Slovenian mountains on Monday.

The right-wing party Alternative for Sweden, for which Lundström ran in the 2021 elections, confirmed his death on Tuesday.

My guess that the #Philly #planecrash was possibly an aerodynamic stall has been dismissed by blancolirio as apparently others also guessed that. It was going well above clean stall speed and not climbing really high for the plane type. blancolirio seems to think it might be spatial disorientation, one pilot friend guesses trim/stabilizer issue and another says maybe they loaded fuel on only one side/there was an incident in the cockpit that interfered with the pilot. Other than acknowledging the turn right after take off (which they only did briefly) there was no communication or emergency declaration from the plane itself.

The answer? We do not know. Sadly the plane was older and did not have an FDR/CVR and it was at full thrust (with landing lights on) full nose down full of fuel and oxygen tanks so the damage is significant. I hope the NTSB will be able to piece this together and give their loved one's closure.

My 88yo mom was beside herself at the shattering #planecrash images & news out of #Philadelphia. I was on the phone with her for an hour trying to calm her down. She’s lived in the NE #Philly burbs since the 60s.

I visit once a week, but I’m going again tomorrow bc she was so upset. Usually I pass the Boulevard & Cottman on the drive from SJ, but now… 😢

I really don’t know what I’m trying to convey here. There’s so much awful, it’s hard to find a solid berth.
