Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Starting Monday, I will participate in the <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Birdfy30DayChallenge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Birdfy30DayChallenge</span></a>, meaning that my Birdfy camera feeder will be live to watch for 1 hour every day for 30 days. I will post info on how to watch soon. I will be live from 9 to 10 AM EDT. Looking forward to this! <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>There is not a lot going on, so an oldie it is for tonight. One year, the tree cam was visited by one of my favorites, an opossum. It came night after night for a while, and I was always looking forward to watching it. I have a very soft spot for these creatures, so I am always happy to see them. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/animals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>animals</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Some Friday silly with three photos from the CY95 trailcam. I recommend to unmute 🤓 <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>TW for mouse lovers.</p><p>It looks like I have summoning powers, look hoo stopped by last night and scored! I am always stunned at the small size of the Screech Owls, that mouse is tiny. There are many mice around here, so I am happy that the owl got some nice dinner.<br><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/owls" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>owls</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/raptors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>raptors</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>A superb Owl on this snowy Sunday. I have not managed to get out to look for one of these beauties this year yet, work always got in the way. I know they are out there, and I hope they thrive and do not get pestered by people who are getting too close or try to coax them to take off. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/superbowl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>superbowl</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>The Tree Sparrows came back today, so I guess they are hanging out here for a bit. Here you can nicely study their ID details a bit - eye ring, beak colors, head marks and colors and the spot on the chest. They are on the smaller size, like Juncos and Goldfinches. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>On February 2 twofers - American Tree Sparrows, MoDos and Cardinals - and a bouncer to kick this cursed week to the curb.<br><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ostdrossel</span></a></p><p>(You see American tree Sparrows, Cardinals and Mourning Doves in groups of two coming to the bird bath. In the end, a Cardinal shoos a MoDo away.)</p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>This nuthatch knows how to impress and uses it twice to gain access to the peanut butter 😆 I know, it is another tree cam video but these are fun and there is nothing much else happening right now. <br><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>And exciting news for Grackle fans! My good friend at eccentrichippo.com has made these fabulous Grackle earrings that shine in all kinds of colors just like the Count himself. You can get them at their Etsy shop here: <a href="https://tinyurl.com/24h2yhmk" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">tinyurl.com/24h2yhmk</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Grackle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Grackle</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Mourning Doves seem infatuated with the camera and love to pose. This one spent a lot of time just sitting right in front of it today, and when I watched, it relaxed me a lot. Come grab a chair and unwind with a MoDo.<br><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p><p>(The music is a copyright-free clip called "Fantastic and smooth relaxed jazz ballad".)<br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKkOx1QOt7Q" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=TKkOx1QOt7</span><span class="invisible">Q</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>The sun was out today! And there were lots and lots of Juncos. Here you can see a bit of the hierarchy thing that they have going on. Some tolerate feeding next to each other, others don't. The trills and "sledgehammer" noises are there to assert dominance, I suppose. It was windy today, so there is some side noise, but I hope you enjoy. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/BirdsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BirdsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a> <br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvEosahrEfE" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=ZvEosahrEf</span><span class="invisible">E</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Mourning Doves are here year-round and in large numbers and can sometimes be overwhelming with their feeder dominance, but they make up for that with their spirit and their funny portraits. They seem like a happy bird, if there ever was one. Which is funny, given their name. This is your happiness talisman for the new week. May good things happen ❤️ <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>The tree cam has been busy these last couple of days. The Juncos are very feisty with one another but seem to tolerate others just fine. This is a spot that can be windy but I opted for no music to give the awesome Junco sounds some audience. This was the CY75 trailcam. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Surprise visitor this morning <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/CaughtonBirdfy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CaughtonBirdfy</span></a> - a Grackle! I had one one year staying into December, but I don't think I have seen one in January in my yard before, but I also know that not all birds migrate far. I love Grackles and would not mind being his winter host. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>When I went out in the morning to refill feeders, I thought I heard a Robin. I usually do not see them at this time of year, they go where nature provides more food and return in spring. But here he is, he came for a sip at the bird bath. Looks a bit cold 😊<a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>It was a rough day outside but tonight is even colder. I hope they all have a safe spot for the night. I had to take two trail cams in for extra charging because they finally gave in to the temperatures. They'll go back out in the morning, with fresh food for the freezing crowd. (Blue Jay, Goldfinch, Redbellied Woodpecker, Chickadee, Cardinal, House Finches, Mourning Dove, Junco) <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>When times are rough, I am especially happy for this hobby because it distract me and keeps my mind busy. And I never get sick of seeing birds, trees or gorgeous skies. We live in a pretty awesome place here on earth. And I hope we can continue with that. And I will continue to share what makes my heart happy, here from my little yard 💓 <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/kingoftheyard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kingoftheyard</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/joshuahomme" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>joshuahomme</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Sometimes things align and something fun happens. When this Cardi landed, timing was perfect, and the CY95 trailcam snapped an awesome picture. I counted six Cardinals in the yard today! <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/pureMichigan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pureMichigan</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>Expressive friends today - one of the several Cardinals came when the sun was out for a bit, and the Blue Jay made a funny face, maybe because it arrived to an empty bowl. I refill as much as I can but when I work, the bowls may be empty for a bit too before I make it back out. It is getting really cold here this week, so I will make sure to refill frequently. <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
Ostdrossel :verified:<p>A little Junco (and Nuthatch) parade from today. You can see a bit of the hot bark butter that I put on the tree during the day. The birds like it but the squirrels stay away from it - the heat irritates their noses (I always wear gloves when I put it on, too, it is powerful). The flurries reminded me of a snow globe, so I made it round 🙂 <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Ostdrossel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ostdrossel</span></a></p>
