On a scale from one to "Oh my gods, get an upgrade this instant?!", how bad is it, security -wise to still be on #Android 11 when Android 16 releases? Anything else to keep in mind?

Trying to gauge if I should get a newer phone or if a battery upgrade for the old one (a #OnePlus 6T from a few months after release) will do.

Got the camera actuator on my #OnePlus 6T to focus with the help of @NekoCWD and poking i2c registers with i2cset. It looks like the actuator on my camera needs an enable register set.

Just found out #LibreWolf is packaged in #AlpineLinux now! This includes #postmarketOS! I just migrated from the Flatpak version by copying the contents of

.var/app/io.gitlab.librewolf-community/.librewolf to .librewolf

and

.var/app/io.gitlab.librewolf-community/config/librewolf to .config/librewolf

then going into about:profiles in native LibreWolf and selecting the correct profile. Also turned on media.webrtc.camera.allow-pipewire in about:config and now cameras work on #OnePlus 6T!

It turns out that disabling and uninstalling bundled apps that are not immediately useful on #Android leaves you with very few apps...

Not to mention that a few of the apps listed are not part even needed for basic/core functions IMHO

I wonder if Fedi has anyone who works at OnePlus, or knows any way of getting in touch with a human there that can help fix some accessibility issues? I got my OnePlus phone yesterday, and love the hardware, the customizability, and the haptic motor. It's maybe the only Android phone right now that comes with the option to set phone audio to the earpiece when you hold the phone to your ear. And TalkBack is amazingly responsive on it. However, there are accessibility issues, like TalkBack's support for the fingerprint sensor being broken so that it always instructs me to move my finger up, no matter where it is around the sensor, suggested apps on the recent apps screen not always showing the correct app that will be launched, and volume and brightness sliders in quick settings not working correctly with TalkBack. I'm not sure if OnePlus has any accessibility staff, but since they're using AudioEye on their website, I'd guess they have at least thought of accessibility slightly, even if there are often no audio captchas so I can't log into my OnePlus account. Overall though, it's a great phone and may be the one that allows me to settle into Android full time.

However I am working on multiple projects that I think are truly #meaningfulwork and I am trying to do what I can.

I am limited by #tech and funds. An ancient laptop. A basic #oneplus Nord and a pair of #marshall headphones is all that I have.

Some new closeup shots with the #oneplus #op6t camera on #postmarketOS! I installed the Snapshot 1440p patch (sudo mrtest add -a 79523) and took these. I did some closeup shots because that's where the camera seems to be focusing without the autofocus driver.
