It’s just funny that I heard so many people over there boasting and bragging about how <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.teci.world/tag/pleroma" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#pleroma</a> and <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.teci.world/tag/akkoma" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#akkoma</a> are so much better than <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.teci.world/tag/mastodon" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Mastodon</a> because they have more features and run lighter, etc. etc. meanwhile those instances are down now while instances like <a href="http://mstdn.social" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">mstdn.social</a> have been running at full throttle for years now with a pretty similarly sized userbase IIRC</p>

#FreeAssange - ɯɟʇɹ<p>¿Por que no darle una segunda vida a tu telefono movil?</p><p>Hace unos dias lei que hemos acelerado enormemente la rotacion de compra-uso-basura de nuestros aparatos, llegando a la escandalosa cifra de renovarlos casi cada 2 años.</p><p>Los fabricantes, en colusion con los distribuidores y los vendedores han llevado a tal extremo esta tendencia, que en la actualidad la mayoria de los modelos practicamente deja de recibir actualizaciones a los 6 meses de haber dejado las fabricas.</p><p>Hoy por hoy esta industria es una de las 10 mas destructoras del medio ambiente, al requerir cada vez mayores cantidades de metales a una velocidad nunca antes vista.</p><p>Por el otro lado los gobiernos hacen intentos mas bien esteticos a este crimen contra la naturaleza. La <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/UE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UE</span></a> acaba de aprobar la obligacion de que todos los aparatos que dependan de una o mas entradas de tipo USB sean del Tipo-C, como una maniobra de lavar su imagen y hacernos creer que de esta forma las gigantes estaran obligadas a frenar su maquinaria monstruosa de fabricacion - venta - a la basura... que finalmente para nada frena el problema de fondo: Los nuevos modelos deberian ser obligatoriamente reparables en cada una de sus piezas, facilitando al menos su intercambio, ademas de exigir que el soporte de <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/iOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iOS</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> y todos los demas OS no fueran inferiores a 10 años o mas... y esto deberia cubrir incluso a los modelos ya "obsoletos" (de programacion)</p><p>El ecocidio que llevan a cabo las gigantes tecnologicas se extiende tanto a las fuentes minerales, como tambien al resto de los materiales que se ocupan en la fabricacion... y para detener esto se tendria que aplicar un principio que se podria enunciar como "retornabilidad, responsabilidad y reciclabilidad", es decir, que todos los aparatos que salen de las fabricas deberian incluir desde el origen un costo por la destruccion de la naturaleza y los ecosistemas que intervienen una vez son deshechados... sumar a esto una tasa de retornabilidad, que incluyera la obligacion a que todas las empresas fueran obligadas a recolectar los aparatos abandonados, asi como se hace con las botellas, en donde el cliente recibe un reembolso cuando la devuelve... y por ultimo, que las empresas esten obligadas a reciclar no menos del 90% del material invertido en los aparatos, de tal forma que los recien salidos de la linea de produccion ya incluyan al menos un 80% o mas de material reciclado.</p><p>Solo de esta forma se conseguiria que la industria en su conjunto se movilizara en la misma direccion y no fuera dejando victimas en su camino.</p><p>Y volviendo al titulo de esta entrada: ¿Sabias que la <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/FSE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FSE</span></a> lanzo hace ya un tiempo la campaña que da titulo a este texto?</p><p>Esto solo es posible gracias a la magia del <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/FLOSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FLOSS</span></a>. Por lo que yo se (y ojala otros me corrijan y amplien esta informacion), menos del 1% de los modelos de telefonos que tienen android instalado pueden ser rescatados instalandoles una ROM diferente, ya que cada ROM puede ser instalada en un numero muy reducido de telefonos moviles.</p><p>Ejemplo de ello, es que <a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/eOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eOS</span></a> solo soporta poco mas de 270 modelos de telefonos en sus diferentes savores y versiones. Esto se debe principalmente al ya eterno problema de que los fabricantes se niegan a cooperar al menos en lo concerniente a entregar la informacion necesaria para sacar nuevas ROMs o adapatar las que ya hoy estan circulando.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.la/tags/LineagOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LineagOS</span></a> soporta una cantidad mucho mayor en sus diferentes sabores, pero tambien es limitado y no alcanza a todo el universo de marcas/modelos.</p><p>En este sentido el llamado de la FSF tambien se puede interpretar en ultima instancia como una exigencia a los fabricantes para que sean algo mas cooperadores, ya que ni siquiera quieren asumir su parte de este MEGA problema.</p>

Although they ban less content than mstdn.social, they aren't nearly as permissive as sites like <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/FSE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FSE</span></a> or <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Poast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Poast</span></a>.</p><p>From personal experience, new mstdn.social users should expect moderation of alt right and far right content, and a kinder, chiller community than what you'd find on <a href="https://social.freetalklive.com/tags/Twitter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Twitter</span></a>. It leads to less variety of content IMHO, but it's not bad necessarily, and might in fact be what you need.</p>
