There are numerous misleading statements about EHT data analysis (which involved multiple groups and multiple methods, addressing in depth all issue) and the image processing has basic flaws. As presented the image is not reproducible nor does he show any synthetic data tests that would make one believe his approach is reliable in this case. AkaSci 🛰️<p>What is the EHT and how does it work?<br>EHT consists of a set of telescopes spread across the globe that collect precisely time-stamped data at 230 GHz and 345 GHz for several days. The data is post processed using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), that makes the set of telescopes behave like one large planetary-scale (imperfect) telescope. Light emitted from the plasma is "polarized" perpendicular to the magnetic field depending on its strength. Prof Heino Falcke<p>BTW, 30 years ago, I proposed a model for the black hole in the center of the Milky Way saying that the radio mission can be explained by a hidden jet. This predicted the existence of radio light at the edge of the black hole and led to the prediction of a black hole shadow, that was observed two years ago by the EHT. The idea of a hidden jet remained controversial.
