Peter "Poly" Paterson<p>Have spent the last few days really cleaning up my Digital Music cloud and backup.<br>Quite organised now.<br>There are many other sub-levels under the _* directories.<br>This work was done entirely on 2 terminals: pCloud cloud storage and local backup hard drive.<br><a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/digitalmusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DigitalMusic</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/cloudstorage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CloudStorage</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/pcloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pCloud</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/backupstorage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BackupStorage</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/harddrive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HardDrive</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/terminal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Terminal</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/bash" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BASH</span></a> <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/directories" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Directories</span></a></p>
Scott Wilson<p>I’m curious what the prevailing mental model is “with the kids these days”. cryptax<p>I've been using autojump for a couple of days and really like it. This is a small Unix utility to navigate in directories that you visit frequently. <br>In my case, I usually cd in ~10-20 different directories all the time. It's a pain to have to write the entire directory path all the time. Autojump lets you jump to one of those directories, addressed by keyword.</p><p>You see it in action below. "j" is the short cut for autojump.</p><p><a href="https://github.com/wting/autojump" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">github.com/wting/autojump</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/unix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>unix</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/directories" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>directories</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/utility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>utility</span></a></p>
