Q1 was BUSY for us at AlmaLinux, and we're just now catching our breath!
We attended FIVE events, presenting at almost all of them.
Check out highlights from each and see how you can help staff our booths for events just like these! https://almalinux.org/blog/2025-04-29-q1-events/

Recap of CloudFest hackathon
When you hear ‘CloudFest’, many people associate it with a business-to-business event, which it is, but the hackathon in the run-up to it still has a certain degree of community character. On the initiative of Andreas Heigl (@heiglandreas@andreas.heigl.org) and the support of Matthias Pfefferle (@pfefferle), this year’s hackathon provided the resources and space for an exchange of ideas around ‘federated events’.
Our group was one of the largest and very diverse. We used the first day primarily to exchange ideas about our goals and the status quo. Afterwards, we reviewed and improved existing features and developed prototypes and concepts for new ones.
For me as a developer of the WordPress plugin Event Bridge For ActivityPub
, the best thing about these days was to finally get to know the entire WordPress/Automattic team involved with ActivityPub in person (greetings to @mattwiebe and @obenland).
I would like to emphasise a few achievements in particular, without neglecting the achievements of all:

43% of all websites run on WordPress – meaning nearly every second website you visit is powered by it! He also showcased real-world cases proving that WordPress is both scalable and secure.
I am just back from an awesome #hackathon at the #cloudfest
We had three days to work on Federated (#WordPress) Events, you can find our results on that lovely page: https://fedivents.blog/
Thanks especially to @linos for his awesome work with the Event Bridge: https://wordpress.org/plugins/event-bridge-for-activitypub/
...and to @heiglandreas for pitching and leading the project!
@johnonolan the team came up with the puppies without any knowledge of your newsletter, so this must be really a thing!
Got a bit busy at #cloudfest and forgot to post a followup to my last post: we released the updates for CVE-2025-27363 to #AlmaLinux repositories!
`dnf upgrade freetype` to patch your system(s)!
25% of the top 10,000 websites use #WordPress! From startups to global brands like Time & Fujifilm X – thanks to its flexibility, performance & scalability.
We’re still at #CloudFest until March 20! Stop by Stand Z23 at Europa-Park & grab our whitepaper:

I'm at the #Cloudfest #CFHack Hackathon!
I've joined the WP CLI as an MCP host team (and yes that is a LOT of abbreviations in one sentence, we'll be using the #CLI-MCP hashtag).
The goal of this project is to allow AI to interact with WordPress features, using WP CLI as an "interaction tool" but the Server part of this could be used in many different ways in the future.
Today we're gona #TakeOnMeetup. Let's see what is missing to create a seemingly similar (or better?) experience with decentrentralized event management systems.
A lot is alrrady available but there are still bits and pieces missing for a easy and friendly userexperience. And Admin-experience.
I'm really looking forward to our project at the Cloudfest Hackathon!

Being free and #OpenSource makes AlmaLinux a good fit for MEGWARE's HPC clusters, which are used exclusively for research and education, as they offer a free alternative to #RHEL.
