“'It’s not even representative of Christianity in the United States,' said Du Mez, who authored the book Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation.
'It’s a pretty narrow slice of rightwing, predominantly, but not exclusively, white conservative Protestantism. But that is the Christianity that Trump thinks of when he thinks of Christianity.'”

"The makeup of Trump’s faith office is so far 'not at all' representative of the various religions practiced in the US, said Kristin Kobes Du Mez, a professor at Calvin University and research fellow at the center for philosophy of religion at the University of Notre Dame."

"The Trump administration’s promotion of white Christian nationalists and prosperity gospel preachers to key government roles will lead to the 'further dismantling of government institutions' and the chilling of free speech, experts have warned."

Friday - 1pm and 8pm, free - Holden Chapel @ #Harvard #CambridgeMA - infra-sonic, sub-woofer, modular #synth concert with Sound Lab Artist-in-Residence Retribution Body and guest performer #AshaTamirisa
This looks super cool if you’re into synthy music or putting unexpected sounds in beautiful/historic spaces - the 1pm show is tuning all the gear to the resonance of the Chapel, and the 8pm thing is the show.

Hartland, Devon
C15 rood screen, one of the finest in north Devon, with evidence of ancient colour throughout. A real wonder of late medieval ecclesiastical art.
From C16, the Barnstaple (north Devon) tile industry produced lead-glazed relief tiles for local churches as well as ones in Cornwall. At least 64 designs defined by Keen (1969). These, found in Launcells, Cornwall, include fleur-de-lys, swan, heads, lion, as well as several flower designs.
Launceston St Mary, Cornwall
Built 1511-24, wholly of granite, the hardest of stones. Exterior almost entirely decorated with carvings. This is probably the best example of how beautifully carved granite can be.
Buckland Abbey, Devon
When abbeys were dissolved during the Reformation, many were mostly demolished or radically altered. Often the abbey church was the first building to be razed, but at Buckland the church became the home of the new owner, though it too was modified to suit their needs. This wall tells most of the story of what was removed and what was inserted.
'The Remarkable Pinwill Sisters'
The true story of three late Victorian women who broke the mould and became professional ecclesiastical woodcarvers. The book has won two awards, one in Devon and the other in Cornwall.
Have a look at my website and if you are intrigued, do order the book. It's also available from independent bookshops listed on the website, or order through your local one.
Lydford Castle, Devon
A C13 tower built on top of a C12 predecessor, it served as a prison for enforcing laws that regulated both Dartmoor’s forest and its tin industry. Offenders against such laws continued to be incarcerated there throughout the medieval period. The castle sits next to the medieval parish church, which lies within a 'lan' or embanked enclosure, signifying an older site of importance.
Gittisham, Devon
Wonderful image of pigs at the trough in this reset medieval glass.
