Helicopters were not needed overnight; however, they will focus on water and retardant drops in the highest priority areas in the northwest and southeast flanks.</p><p>The highest priority remains on the northwest flank, where steep terrain and heavy fuels still pose a challenge. However, on the southeast flank, due to the hard work of firefighters, an evacuation order was downgraded to a warning today in the foothill community of Upland from Mountain Avenue up to Shinn Road.</p><p>On the south side, firefighters have made good progress securing containment lines along the direct edge of the fire line and continue gaining depth in mop-up operations.</p>

Fire crews are reinforcing and mopping up containment lines while also falling hazard trees in the Wrightwood area and continuing to engage in structure defense.</p><p>To the northeast, firefighters are working hard to secure containment lines on the west side of the North Fork of Lytle Creek by prioritizing dozer lines and direct attack wherever possible to stop fire spread.</p><p>The east side of the fire is less active; however, it is still presenting risks to residents in the Mt. Baldy area, so evacuations remain in effect.</p>

Firefighters focused on direct attack along the fire’s edge with strike teams of engines, hand crews, &amp; aircraft to protect the communities of Big Pines, Piñon Hills, &amp; other areas to the NW.</p>
