Tim Dixon<p>Braille affords me the independence to read unaided. However, the high cost of digital Braille displays restricts their accessibility, particularly in lower-income nations. An Indian enterprise is endeavoring to render Braille more economical and accessible throughout India's educational framework. </p><p><a href="https://www.bbeb.com/post/102j9n1/indian-company-breaking-down-barriers-with-refreshable-braille-display" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">bbeb.com/post/102j9n1/indian-c</span><span class="invisible">ompany-breaking-down-barriers-with-refreshable-braille-display</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Braille" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Braille</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/BrailleDisplay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrailleDisplay</span></a></p>
Sean Randall<p>Very impressed with the new Split <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/Braille" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Braille</span></a> Feature in <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/JAWS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JAWS</span></a>. Being able to read Teams chat with half my display whilst typing someplace else is tremendous. They seem to have well thought out the different modes and views. Shame about the cells wasted with the split and lack of customisability of the viewport widths. If I won the lottery I'd throw a few hundred k at <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/NVDASR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NVDASR</span></a> for comparable <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/BrailleDisplay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrailleDisplay</span></a> development</p>

D.Hamlin.Music<p>Ok so here’s what I want, I want <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/BrailleDisplay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrailleDisplay</span></a> brands to start offering realistic payment plans for their products, when your payment plan expects a <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blind</span></a> person to be able to pay ~$300/mo for a year to buy a product that I would really hope should last a hell of a lot longer than that it feels sorta slimey. I mean my phone that is less than a third of the price is on a 3 year payment plan. Also, I’m guessing a whole lot more blind people would buy <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/braille" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>braille</span></a> tech if it could be paid for over 3 or 5 years. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/mastoblind" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>mastoblind</span></a></span></p>

Brandon Tyson<p>I'm not a heavy Braille user on <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/iOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iOS</span></a> so it could just be me but, is it just me or do Braille displays on iOS legitimately not work very well? In 16.7.2, the cursor jumped around the screen when trying to type an email unless I manually changed to eight-dot computer Braille, and on 17, while I don't have that problem anymore, my Braille display (a BrailleNote Apex) doesn't work correctly when the phone unlocks. Braille just doesn't seem to work nearly as well as it did, say, in iOS 12. But then again, neither does iOS as a whole. <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/Accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/VoiceOver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VoiceOver</span></a> <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/Braille" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Braille</span></a> <a href="https://dragonscave.space/tags/BrailleDisplay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrailleDisplay</span></a></p>
