EU AI Act: Latest draft Code for AI model makers tiptoes towards gentler guidance for Big AI.
Ahead of a May deadline to finalise guidance for providers of general purpose AI (GPAI) models on complying with provisions of the EU AI Act, a third draft of the Code of Practice was published on Tuesday.
The Code has been in development since last year, and this draft is expected to be the last.

Angenommen, die #USA ziehen sich nun effektiv und vollständig aus der Rechts- und Werteorientierten Welt zurück und kündigen das EU-US Data Protection Framework. Gestärkt durch geopolitischen Druck auf Europa ignorieren US-Tech-Monopolisten wie Microsoft, Google und Amazon dann vollständig die #DSGVO und #AIAct und zahlen auch keine Bußgelder, sodass die Durchsetzung quasi wirkungslos wird.
1. Wäre das ein realistisches worst-case Szenario oder doch eher überzogen? Wie schätzt ihr die Lage ein?
2. Welche Auswirkungen hätte das auf europäische Unternehmen, die mangels realistischer europäischer Alternativen mittelfristig weiter auf US-Dienstleister angewiesen sind um wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben?

From a technology perspective things will get messy in Europe, Vance has confirmed the US will go in full attack against our regulations (AI Act, DSA , DMA etc), how will we react, will we compromise or not? Big risks are involved because we are extremely dependent on US tech. The US could "shut us down" if they like...(Cloud, services etc). We should start migrating to EU tech and services ASAP and/or start to build them.

The EU #AIAct prohibited AI use rules appear to be sensible and measured. Undoubtedly, there will be some non-EU business people who will complain loudly, just as with GDPR. Let them. Pour le chercheur Félix Tréguer, membre de La Quadrature du Net (1), le Sommet pour l’action sur l’intelligence artificielle ( #IA ) qui s’est tenu à #Paris n’aura fait que feindre de promouvoir une IA éthique.
