Engineers here don’t have good specs on how to lay these out, so they are always kind of odd. The raised curb islands should be narrower to provide more queueing space for people on bikes. That would have happened if the bike lanes were wider. We need better templates for them to copy and paste into their plans. Maybe <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/AASHTO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AASHTO</span></a> will release their new bike guide this year (I’ve been saying that since 2018)…</p>
