Roman S.Wie oft bilden wir uns ein, wir wären so "zivilisiert" und ach so modern im 21. Jahrhundert. Wir halten uns für fortschrittlich und behaupten, dass wir zwar noch nicht das "Utopia" erreicht haben - aber doch auf jeden Fall auf dem Weg dorthin sind. Wir proklamieren für uns, aus Kreuzzügen, mittelalterlichen Foltermethoden, Hexenverbrennung und aus zwei Weltkriegen gelernt zu haben. Wir behaupten, dass "wir nicht so sind"! DAS halte ich für die größte Hybris der Menschheit im 21. Jahrhundert. Wir halten uns für aufgeklärt, friedliebend und durchdrungen vom Geist des menschenfreundlichen Humanismus. Welch ein Irrtum. Welch Überheblichkeit. In einigen Weltgegenden des so genannten "Westens" haben wir ein paar Jahrzehnte lang keinen größeren Krieg und schon klopfen wir uns auf die Schultern und fühlen uns wie Mahatma Ghandi und Mutter Theresa zusammen, ohne zu erkennen, dass wir unglaublich viel Leid, Barbarei und Unterdrückung einfach nur in andere Gebiete exportiert haben! Der westliche Mensch blickt mit Abscheu auf die "Barbaren" im Nahen Osten, in Afrika, in Russland und überall sonst hin, wo der Mensch seine grässlichste Fratze zeigt! WIR sind nicht so, nein! Auf keinen Fall. Allein der Gedanke erschreckt uns. Und doch hält uns jeder Krieg, jeder Terroranschlag und jede humanitäre Katastrophe einen Spiegel vor, in dem wir uns selbst sehen. Sehen sollten. Sehen könnten. Wenn wir nur bereit dazu wären. Wenn wir nur von unserem hohen Ross heruntersteigen würden und erkennen würden, dass wir als "Menschheit" im selben Boot sitzen. Dass wir nicht so gut, edel und rein sind, wie wir uns das selbst einreden - und dass wir verdammt nochmal nicht das Recht haben, über andere zu urteilen und zu verurteilen. Denn dieses Urteil trifft auch uns. Jeden von uns. Ich bin nicht so gut, wie ich zu sein glaube. Und du auch nicht. Wenn du das nicht glaubst - schau in den Spiegel. Wende dich nicht ab von dem, was du siehst. Erst dann - und davon bin ich überzeugt - erst, wenn wir dieser Wahrheit ins Auge blicken, können wir uns auf den Weg machen, besser zu werden. Nicht als "Individuum" - sondern als ganze Menschheit.
