(continuing) Starting to work my way through the Complaint. There are four counts in the complaint, one each of:

Conspiracy to Commit Computer Intrusions;
Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud;
Accessing a Protected Computer to Defraud and Obtain Value; and
Wire Fraud

The complaint does not mention ShinyHunters at all. It mentions his group, “CyberN[------]" extensively and his and the group's activity on a forum that they do not name but is clearly Breach Forums in both its iterations.

From the complaint, it appears that at least one member of CyberN----- is being considered CC-1 (co-conspirator 1). It also appears that West's posts and sales listings on the forums would have raised more than $2 million in sales.

The complaint also details all the OpSec mistakes West made that enabled law enforcement to track his activities and identify him. Making sales to undercover agents was among his poorer decisions, but there were other errors that appear to be more significant, including giving an undercover agent a BTC wallet to make payment to when that wallet had a history that could be analyzed, and the wallet had been created by an online banking account in West's name, etc.

As is typical, the court filing does not name the victim entities, but you may be able to recognize some of them if you were on the forum a lot.

You can read the complaint at justice.gov/usao-sdny/media/14 while I go take a look at the indictment.

Noah Urban, aka "King Bob" and a suspected member of Scattered Spider, pleaded guilty this week in a case involving wire fraud, cryptocurrency theft, phishing, and simswapping. He had cases against him in Florida and California. Other people indicted with him have yet to be tried or to make plea deals, and one young man from Scotland has been detained in Spain pending determination of extradition request (I haven't found any update on the extradition case).

The New York Times · Bob Menendez Found Guilty in Corruption Trial: Live UpdatesBy Nicholas Fandos

Federal judge on Thursday sentenced to prison a Republican Florida state legislator who catapulted to national attention for being the sponsor of a bill barring classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity that was called by its critics the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Former Rep. Joe Harding (R-Williston), who plead guilty in March to one count each of wire fraud, money laundering and making false statements as part of a scheme to fraudulently obtain a $150,000 federal Covid-19 relief loan, was sentenced to four months in prison.

I'm really rooting for #wirefraud to take #Trump down.

"Trump and his allies alleged in their email solicitations that they needed the money to fight election fraud and reverse the outcome of the election, despite knowing there was no evidence to support their claims of widespread electoral fraud. These efforts acquired property within the meaning of section 1343, namely the over $250 million dollars raised for Trump’s Save America PAC."

@jeffjarvis We may remember, that Richard Nixon would've been indicted, hadn't he resigned before impeachment & being an ex-president been pardoned by Ford.

And reportedly a grand jury was even ready to bring charges against Nixon.

Criminals need to face accountability, be they bastards of American Democracy like the self-proclaimed "king of debt" from Queens & his insurrectionary ilk or not.

So what remains of that NYT "taboo" opinion is more or less BS.
