SSS releases v3.1.44, with an #accessibility feature now baked in, a handy virtual on-screen #keyboard that you can toggle with your mouse directly from #waybar, it works nicely in #hyprland and #labwc sessions

sorry for the screenshot in 4k screen, but keyboard is highly usable and should help accessibility, as well as people that control pc from the #sofa
SSS (The Supreme Sexp System) proudly announces version v3.1.11 of the project.

big shoutout to @abcdw who helped improve the dev experience and tests of the project, #hacking on it is now a delight (with #guile #arei #ares on #emacs ).
system is much more modular now, organized, user overrides are easy, and there is a #wip #gruvbox theme support (many more too), added rotating wallpapers
SSS (The Supreme Sexp System) proudly announces version v2.3.15 of the project:

Welp, #PewDiePie has opened the floodgates to the #Linux community now that he's actually done a full video explaining his move to Linux, why he did it, and why he thinks others should ditch #Windows.
I honestly expected a nothing burger video with not much meaning/input to it, esp to someone who's already on Linux, but his points were pretty interesting. Some of his takeaways:
- He was tired of #Microsoft's bullshit concerning ads, #AI slop, and bloat - and how he really supports the idea of #FOSS, and gave the example of how cool it is that #Valve saw the issue on putting all of their/our eggs (shares) in Windows' basket and addressed that by building on top of an existing FOSS project, #Wine to then develop #Proton, which as a result has unlocked and enabled the expansive #gaming scene that we have today, not just for the #SteamDeck but all Linux users as a whole.
- He, surprisingly loves the customisation aspect of Linux and how everything is modular - which meant we could change things like the GUI (desktop environment) and customise it as desired. He even (appropriately) used the term, ricing lol.
- He, even more surprisingly, loves the fact that there are many Linux distros to choose from - when some find this to be somewhat a hurdle. He highlighted how you should just pick one and move forward, which is often true - this choice doesn't really matter as much these days (if ever). His choice was #LinuxMint, the distro he's tried 15 years ago.
- He noted how, like anything, Linux isn't perfect and there may be sacrifice(s) needed - like how some apps may only be available on Windows, for #macOS, and likewise for Linux. His sacrifice was #Adobe #Photoshop, but he was happy to ditch the thing (which costed him 60 USD just to unsubscribe), and his chosen alternative was... #GIMP - I know some might not agree, but he liked it
- He mentioned how searching (locally) on Windows is garbage, and everyone knows that's just... objectively true. Like him, I too was amazed how local search actually JUST WORKS and is super fast on Linux, unlike on Windows or macOS.
- He noted how goddamn easy and intuitive installing/updating/managing apps are on Linux by using the system's package manager (app store), rather than having to look up the app installer online and dodging all of the shady sites with malwares and so on.
- As if this wasn't enough, Pewds really went down a fucking rabbit hole, almost putting to 'shame' for most, all average Linux users (incl myself) by literally installing/using #ArchLinux on his laptop, which is normal, 'cept he's not using a regular DE like #KDE or #Gnome but he instead, opted for a tiling manager, #Hyprland with #Rofi, #Waybar and all lol.
Anyway, it's a pretty cool video - and I underestimated Pewds' love for tinkering and using the terminal, so much so that I hope his users don't think that they actually need to use the terminal for the things he did haha. https://youtu.be/pVI_smLgTY0
RE: https://sakurajima.social/notes/a4q9yw9w5i
SSS (v2.1.29) now rocks a fully modular #emacs config with some nice additions, like controling #spotify from Emacs (with smudge) and some UI tweaks as well as better #rofi, #mako, #alacritty and #waybar and more love to light themes as well as #everforest maybe this makes some #rde users curious :)
I've been playing around with Niri as a Wayland compositor for the last few weeks, as opposed to my normal Sway. It's nice!
Anyway, I decided I wanted a more Niri-specific taskbar module for Waybar, and ended up using Waybar's CFFI interface to build one in Rust, which turned out to be (mostly) fun. I wrote about it here: https://lawngno.me/blog/2025/03/06/niri.html
Arbeiten bei #waybar an "global menu", sehr cool!

Cool!

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a different symbol for focused river tags on waybar. hyprland/workspaces for example has a format-icons property so I can use an empty circle or a filled circle depending on if it is active or not.
I am assuming not as there is no equivalent property for river/tags but maybe there is something else to achieve this effect.
I guess I could use whitespace as the symbol and use css styling to achieve the effect but maybe there is a neater way?
