@joel@bsd.cafe I mean I did try upgrading from 13.2 to 14.3 just by freebsd-update a few days ago in a #vm. It went well. Though it was a very minimal setting environment, I didn't got many packages installed on the VM

Virtual Appliances/Images als Vorlage für eine schnelle virtuelle Maschine ersparen euch so viel Zeit. Nutze ich erst seit einem halben Jahr. Schlimm, dass ich das zuvor nicht so genutzt habe :)
Müssten ca. 50 Installationen allein für meine Debian Appliance sein, die ich mir gespart habe.

I've gotten so used to running my everyday Unix system as a VM on top of various host systems that I notice myself hesitating to install it on bare metal. It feels unsafe. With a VM, I can back up the disk image(es) in various ways (wholesale or incremental snapshots), move it to new hardware, transfer it to a completely different environment and have it up and running in no time. On a bare metal machine, I feel "stuck". Does that make sense to anyone out there? #virtualmachine #vm #kvm #unix
