You might think it comes down to personal preference and taste but you're wrong. #DS9 is waaaaay, way better than #TheNextGeneration
(they/them) So, the re-watch of TNG is done. I know a lot of people like to complain about season 7, but I like it. There are episodes that have become iconic for the series, and most of them are fun, even if they're not ALL impressive.
The finale for the season is a damned near perfect episode. It creates a perfect circle with the first episode, and does a fair bit to redeem Q and his trickster ways. Or, at least to make him understandable.

Okay, we finished the first five seasons of TNG, so here's my "the show isn't over yet" commentary. First: TNG was my first Trek, really. I was aware of TOS, but I never saw a lot or got into it, so it was TNG that set the pattern in my brain.
Yes, the first season was bad, and about half the second season. But after that...I love it. I truly do.

One of the fun things about watching TNG for the umpteenth time is that, occasionally, I just look up from my computer to glance at the screen, mutter, "Oh, it's THIS asshole," and then go back to what I'm doing.
"Who Watches the Watchers." A great episode. Perhaps not coincidentally, another one that goes into Prime Directive issues. Those are always enthralling, when done well. Season 3 is definitely when this show really found its feet.
"Measure of a Man." The first of the truly excellent TNG episodes. God, I love this one. I mean, I want to punch that one guy a lot, but the rest of it is just so beautiful! I know it's not a hot take, but I had to say it anyway.
Yay! We've reached season 2. Hello to Riker's beard and a whole lot fewer bad episodes. Unfortunately, it's also goodbye to Dr. Crusher and hello to Polaski. But at least Crusher will be back later. I have that to look forward to.
So, we're starting the TNG re-watch. I'll be up-front. I hate Yar and Troi. I'm not a bad feminist - they're very poorly written. Both are very bad officers. Honestly, I'd kill for the kinds of awesome female characters we'll see in later Trek shows.

In my early 20s, I watched Star Trek: #TheNextGeneration religiously on my little 15" TV in my studio apt.
UPN then released Star Trek: #DeepSpaceNine in '93 & I didn't rly care for it. It just wasn't TOS or TNG.
#StarTrek: #Voyager was released in '95 & I loved it & remember it fondly as the show I watched when I moved to Los Angeles.
It's 30yrs later now & oddly, I've found myself rly appreciating #DS9 & rewatching it more than any of the other series.
It gives me the most feels.
