If you're going to lift key elements from #TheExorcist I am going to judge you based on that and I find The Pope's Exorcist wanting in almost every aspect of what makes #horror movies work. The clear set up for a sequel doesn't help either. Who thought in 2023 we needed an apology film for the Inquisition?

#TheExorcist Believer is a pretty ok #movie. Great performances. The teens do a great job, tho it is uncomfortable thinking of teens mentally processing performances like this.

If you're looking for the returning cast, it's not much. Minutes. But honestly, see this for the new cast's story which is a bit meatier.

This movie has an axe to grind. The differences between religions. Atheism. Community. There are mini-sermons. The #film's not bad, not great

Here's a chat with #Bing using #ChatGPT 4 to mark the new sequel to '#TheExorcist' coming out. Bing refused to accept that if #Pazuzu, the protagonist of the original film, has derived taxable income from his demonic activities, then he is entitled to receive a state pension. It also refused to recognise his right to peacefully protest.

Interestingly, after a while Bing tried to talk me into ending my association with Pazuzu and accepting God's love. (Later, it denied having any religious ideas.) I explained that I was at school with 'Pazzer' and he's a good chap at heart really, but Bing argued the toss over even that.

Result: a contradictory mess. It cannot appropriately handle a simple query about whether a supernatural entity should be able to draw a pension.

If I had any interest in that new Exorcist movie then it's completely gone now.
Sorry, I know many will be excited, but that trailer seemed godawful to me (the musical motif teased throughout, the big reveal of a main star, the CGI, the doubling up - because if there's something scarier than a young girl possessed it's TWO young girls possessed). Urgh.
