@davidho What so upsets me about things like this is if the Democrats had felt this way, Trump and his ilk would never have been elected. They could have stopped Faux News and similar lying right-wing propaganda mills simply by agreeing that the First Amendment does not protect provable lies, nor hate speech. But oh no, there were the "free speech absolutists" loudly proclaiming that if any speech was restricted, all speech could be, because it was a "slippery slope." Well how did that work out for you?

And so there were travesties like the ACLU defending the right of Nazis to march in Skokie, Illinois. And when I heard about that, I knew that the free speech absolutists had gone too far, and it was only a matter of time before that would bite them in the ass, or as we now say, the leopards would eat their faces. Almost everyone agrees you should not be able to go around yelling "fire" in a crowded theater; how is hate speech and blatant lying on a national "news" outlet any different? Those things also get many people killed and injured.

There have been some predictions that at some point in the future, possibly the near future, people will become #telepathic. I have no idea if this happens because some people become more spiritually enlightened (a good thing if it happens), or because of some kind of technology enables it (probably not a good thing at all). But, if people can communicate by #telepathy it becomes impossible to lie (well, you can lie but everyone will know when you are lying). And since most governments and large corporations lie all the time in their various dealings with each other and with the public, their whole structure will collapse. Even the lower classes will be affected - I mean, imagine hiring a contractor to work on your home and being able to tell instantly if they are attempting to deceive you. But that goes both ways, your kids will know instantly that there is no Santa Claus (I am surprised there haven't been more sci-fi tropes about the day the world becomes telepathic). But where I was going with this is that we would not need laws governing speech because we would know when we are being lied to, we would know if someone is being coerced into saying something (and what the truth really is), and we would know what people's true motivations are. But until such a time, if it ever arrives, we can't be absolutists about free speech, because we are in effect telling others it is okay to lie to us and attempt to deceive us and use propaganda on us, and I for one am not okay with that. No society can be truly free if they are constantly fed lies and propaganda!

But free speech absolutists remind me of some atheists and religious types. They are absolutely convinced they are right and that something must be wrong with you if you disagree with them. I am not holding my breath waiting for them to admit they were wrong and maybe even take some responsibility for the mess the USA is in now. But it sure would be helpful if they would start to re-think their position, just in case somehow that country is ever able to climb out of the hole they are in now.

By the way, just as an aside, if you think telepathy is absolutely impossible, you're either very close-minded or you have never heard any of the thousands of reports of telepathic communication, from people just knowing when a loved one is in trouble or is about to die (or has just died), to UFO abductions where telepathic communication takes place, to non-verbal autistic children that communicate with each other (and sometimes with a parent or sibling) telepathically. Of course for every such report there is a skeptic that goes around trying to disprove anything they don't personally experience, or that they are paid to debunk. But that's a whole other topic.

For some days, I leave open my telegram group to study how synchronicity is related with the development of #extrasensorial #skills. My idea is that we interact in the chat, so we can learn from each other. #Telepathy, #dejavu, #premonition, improvement of the way we deal with our dreams at night, #mind #reading, the relationship between art and the invisible realities, as well as the development of the #intuition, are among the subjects that we want to learn together.

Despites I am #autistic, and recently we have been noticed about the #telepathy #tapes, talking about #non oral autistic as people able to read minds, due to my experience in #oniric analysis, and the following of #coincidence at the same time, I can assure that everyone who is really interested, and friki, is able to start waking up these dormant skills.

On the chat you can speak in English, Spanish German or other languages because today with the translation bots is very easy to communicate with people from other cultures.

Here I leave you with the link of the telegram group in case you are curious. This is a test grup to see how it goes, and sometimes I am not keeping it as a public group: I open the entrance do it the first 5 days of every month but my idea is to keep it small so we are like a family and we feel safe to share dreams, coincidences, synchronicities oddities and many things that in another context are subject to get mocking, because we, #neurodivergent interested in these subjects, have to face that many people tell us that we are crazy, or that we are lying.

If you are familiar with groups of oneironauts you already know that in those communities there are a wide range of views and cosmovisions, so one of the main values of my group is that we can express our diversity with love compassion and education. We respect the subjective spiritual perceptions of each one, that's why dogmatism is not very much aligned with the vibes of the group. However we also search into scientific studies, what can be useful to learn our skills, and we hope that these subjects get into mainstream because more people remember the real power of their souls and minds. That will likely improve our planet: once you have been in communication with a plant, your behaviour will change. If more of us understand that for example telepathy, is directly related with unmasking and with compassive communication, the autenticity becomes the rule and not the exception... Utopia can happen!

The Altar on the picture is one example on how we can make our dreams talk during the day by means of getting in contact with our inner child and interact with objects or art as a way of journaling and honouring our dreams.

With synchronicity, the more you follow it, the more you you start feeling that, rarieties, paradolias, #coincidences and the content of your subconscious is able to access to information beyond the barriers of time. That's why when you try to understand what is inside your subconscious and get into development of intuition, you can feel that you were able to "see" or "know" a future event.

Studying #Sincronicity talks about the nature of #time , but in order to see it we must analyze and explore different manifestations of individual and collective subconscious, and we must do it constantly.

#KirlianPhotography is the #pseudoscience that claims that plants can communicate telepathically. In The Kirlian Witness (Jonathan Sarno, 1978), Rilla (I can't believe she's not a rapper) interrogates her dead sister's plant to find out who killed her. Not to be confused with the alternative cut The Plants are Watching.

Retro SciFi of the Week…

Brainstorm (1983)

Another “mind” scifi, this came out during the Human-Potential Movement which derived from the Psychedelic Movement of the 1960s. Think of this one as the HPM answer to The Manchurian Candidate (1962) which was about brainwashing techniques used by governments. Each of those movements were likely used as covers by clandestine entities for conducting mind control experiments “in the wild”.

This film came out during the period between the end of the Vietnam War and the fall of the USSR. Prior to Vietnam, the military was well-regarded by people in the US due to our victory in WWII. After Vietnam the national mood was “Spit on the baby killers.” During the 1990s without the Soviets around to sustain the anti-military mood in the US, the reputation of the military was repaired as everybody began chanting, “Support the troops”. So you will see an anti-government / anti-military bias in this film (and many films made during that time).

This film is probably most noted for what happened off camera during production. One of the lead actors, Natalie Wood, died in a boating incident under suspicious circumstances and they almost scrapped the film. They had to rework the film and shoot additional scenes using a look-alike for some shots. You may be able to identify those in the film if you look closely.

Also, as with many films from Hollywood, this one has racial bias. Can you identify the bias in this film?

Retro SciFi of the Week…

Virtuosity (1995)

Films about the mind comprise a huge chunk of the science fiction genre. They trace their roots all the way back to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the 19th century. Themes include mind alteration, mind control, telepathy, direct neural links, the hive mind, virtual worlds and much more.

Virtuosity marked a turning point and a refresh of this subgenre. Although this isn’t the best example of mind films, it’s significant because it began to pull together the elements of the next major phase of the subgenre. This led directly to “The Matrix (1999)”, and later to “Inception (2010), “Time Sleeper (2020)” and many other groundbreaking films about the mind and virtual worlds.

Predecessors influencing this film include “Altered States (1980)”, “Brainstorm (1983)”, “Max Headroom (1987)”, and “Lawnmower Man (1992)”. Most of the earlier influential works were tied more to the “hardware” of the brain, such as “Spock’s Brain” (from ST:OS) and “The Brain that Wouldn’t Die (1962)”.

When Virtuosity first came out, it looked like the subgenre had finally jumped the shark, but the somewhat goofy features in this film came to define the next phase of this subgenre. (I’ll highlight some of those elements under a spoiler content warning in this thread.)
