If your oscilloscope isn’t 100lbs, with 12kV of acceleration potential, and powered by a forced air cooled transmitter tube, what’s even the point?
Behold, the #tektronix 519 1GHz real-time analog #oscilloscope.
ooops, I did it ah-gain
I bought four more SCOOOOPES….
I have, no.
Self control.

Looking back at the archive I downloaded from the #birdsite, I found some fun pictures. Those are from 2016, when I got a #Tektronix 576 curve tracer. It was designed to be #repaired! It even sported a roll of special soldering wire for the repairs. I love the notice "IT IS DESIRABLE THAT ONLY SILVER-BEARING SOLDER BE USED ON THE CERAMIC TERMINALS AND FOR THINNING THE IRON. ORDINARY TIN-LEAD SOLDER MAY BE USED BUT REPEATED USE WILL BREAK THE SOLDER TO CERAMIC BOND. SEE YOUR INSTRUCTION MANUAL"

My #Tektronix #tds700 series scope got its #gotek floppy emulator and it works great. Its not exactly fast, but I expected this.
I did not need the "reversing" flat flex cable as the original one is the correct type.
This thing is approaching 30 years, but its not that dusty inside.
The fan sometimes makes some bearing noises (will add a few drops of oil to the bearings soon).
I am mainly concerned about the NVRAM and RTC. Both contain coin cells embedded in the package so I need to desolder them, make a big plastic dremeling mess and add new coin cells. But first I need to find out how to dump the factory calibration... this is a new rabbit hole - yay.
VintageTEK is a remarkable musem of vintage Tektronix technologies. Their extensive website is packed with information and photos on a wide range of Tektronix terminals and equipment.

@azonenberg has anyone tried to add 1990s #Tektronix scope (e.g. TDS744) support to #ngscopeclient ?
I just got one and am wondering if there is no support due to limitations of the scopes or just because nobody botheted to add support yet.

Museum giants on display:
Siemens Teleprinter 100 and
Tektronix 4015-1 graphic terminal. Both are excellent candidates for restoration and demonstration!

Another #VCF score was this #tektronix #NTSC monitor. I always wanted one, and I saw it within my first 5 minutes at the show.
I’ve been going to the swap meets for a few years now, and it’s nice to see the same faces, talk tech, and just generally be surrounded by friendly, like minded people.
It was also nice to see @paulrickards who I met at this years #VCF, and who’s work I admire.
Looking forward to cooler weather at the show in November.

If you visit my 45-year-old #tektronix 4006-1 terminal at #emfcamp and you encounter a dangerous or annoying malfunction (stuck beam, loud noise, smoke or flames), please smash this button immediately!
Here's the apparatus I had to put together to allow the #Tektronix 4054A computer to control my camera for the animations about Tek storage tube displays for my #emfcamp 2024 talk. (See also last post.)
