Récemment, j’ai ressorti ma Surface RT (première tablette sortie par Microsoft en 2012). Après plusieurs années dans un tiroir avec un OS abandonné, j’ai réussi à y installer @postmarketOS avec Gnome! On va pas se mentir, il faut être patient. Mais d’un internet explorer incapable d’afficher de l’HTML 5, je passe à un Firefox à jour. J’espère pouvoir lui trouver une utilisation pas trop gourmande :-) #Microsoft #Surface #SurfaceRT #linux #gnome #postmarketos

Une Microsoft Surface RT (première génération) sur laquelle Windows 8.1 RT a été remplacé par Postmarket OS avec Gnome.

The businesses that are buying Microsoft #Surface devices instead need to look for resale items online. I suggest that they choose a less expensive product. Also, do not upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. If you know the differences between 11 Home and 11 Pro you know that Windows 11 Home is basically the same thing as the more expensive version.

The "crazy bald head" bosses in #corporate America need to come to their senses and stop treating their employees like refuse.

We are not just inanimate assets placed on a chessboard that can be swept off the board, dismissively. We are real people. Please prioritize workers and not Satya Nadella's wet dream of being the next Bill Gates, as it was during the 1990s.

We really need to frame and further develop the current #lack of available options regarding how all of us can better leverage our terms of employment using both direct and relativistic means. One of those terms is better allocating funds to pay for wages and #office equipment.

Simply put, #businesses are running out of cash to pay employees' salaries because those businesses are instead buying overpriced tech crap from Microsoft. This /must/ stop.

"Microsoft is charging business customers a $400 premium for #Surface devices equipped with Intel's latest Core Ultra processors compared to models using Qualcomm's Arm-based chips, the company has disclosed. The Intel-powered Surface Pro tablet and Surface Laptop, starting at $1,499, come with a second-generation Core Ultra 5 processor featuring eight cores, 16GB of memory and 256GB storage.

Comparable Qualcomm-based models begin at $1,099. The new Intel devices will be available to business customers from February 18, though versions with cellular connectivity will launch later. Consumer Surface devices will only be offered with Qualcomm processors. Microsoft also unveiled a USB 4 Dock supporting dual 4K displays and the Surface Hub 3, a conference room computer available in 50-inch or 85-inch touchscreen versions."

My road to #Fedora #Linux continues. I´m really happy how well things work. I got even some of my #NativeInstruments plug-ins to open in #Reaper via Yabridge in demo mode. Activation is the problem. So, I asked NI to support Linux. I´ll keep you updated... 😅
While #Gnome works good on the small #Surface Pro screen, I´d prefer to use #KDE_Plasma for my desktop. Alas, Plasma is giving me system freezes. Hard to figure out why for a newbie. Gnome works fine. Any ideas/hint are much appreciated! 🙏
