Tour De Fleece starts on the 5th of July and runs until the 27th of July this year.
My plan is to spin whatever I'm currently working on every day, and rest on the rest days. I have 400 grams of fibre in 3 different projects ready to spin.

I did it! From fibre to plushie! It took a while to get back into the groove of spinning after a years-long break and it was my first time tackling something amigurumi-adjacent (the tubes... My nemeses...) but I think it worked out alright in the end!
(I improvised based on the Madeleine Dog pattern by Pica Pau from hobbii design)
OK, #Montreal! I've a couple days all to myself early next week. What should I do with my time? Strong preference for #FibreArts, esp. #spinning or #knitting, but all diversion suggestions welcome.
(assume I've already done all the touristy things, because I have)
Spinning some unknown fiber
I got this ball of #spinning fiber from a friend, who doesn't spin but couldn't resist the fiber when she visited the store / mill of John Arbon during a vacation.
I'm spinning it up and then we will decide what to do with the resulting yarn.
I've no idea what breed it is.

#SpaceX hoped to release a series of mock satellites after liftoff, but that got nixed because the door
failed to open all the way. Then the spacecraft began #spinning as it skimmed space toward an uncontrolled landing in the Indian Ocean. SpaceX later confirmed that the spacecraft experienced “a rapid unscheduled disassembly”

Three months ago I started this spinning project with four colourways of fibre, and now I have twelve skeins of three-ply yarn in a smooth gradient.
Check out this gorgeous fiber!
I was recently gifted a bag of fur shed from Oni, a Tibetan Mastiff owned by @foxfeather and @mbala. This is going to be SO different to spin than the much shorter husky fur I've been working with.
I absolutely love the parts where dark inner fur turns into a fiery orange at the tip, all in the same strand! I'd love to work out some combination of fiber prep and spinning that keeps the dark end towards the core, wrapped by the orange tips, so that if any bloom/halo develops, it prefers the orange end.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

My other purchase is a bag of naturally dark black alpaca roving.
I've been wanting to try blending the husky fur with something a bit longer and more likely to hold together. I'm going to play around with proportions, but I think this would look really sharp as a dark core of black alpaca surrounded by a fuzzy white husky halo.
Of course I'll post photos when I get to this project!
It's fleece washing time. I can't manage a whole one in one go anymore, so I'll be working through sections this week while the sun is out and it's not too hot for me. I'll be smelling of sheep for the next week! I have no idea what sheep this is, gift from friend of a friend. It spins so lovely and is far less work to prep than what I'm used to!

With the addition of a new tool to the household I've turned my yucca fibre into baby's first wheel-spun single-ply thread.
Learning how to use a spinning wheel has its challenges, but I can feel myself improving as I go.
I’ve got the first four (of twelve) sections of the Mega Multi Merino Gradient project spun and plied - and a plan to make a new lazy kate from something nicer-looking than a shoebox.

Doing this a third time since I migrated to gamepad dot club (yay!) ....
I have a passion for all things #art, #knitting, #spinning (fiber), #books, #gaming, and of course #cats - I have #multiplesclerosis and often forget I cannot do all the things.
Below are some pictures of stuff I've done:

My kitty blanket continues to grow. It takes longer to make each round, so apparent progress is slower, but it's looking beautiful, and I'm enjoying the #knitting. This is a variation on the famous ten stitch blanket, worked in a spiral, joined as I go. The fiber is wool and fur from my kitties. #spinning #handspinning #handmade #cat
