I'm not a tech person. 40 yrs ago, I was pretty good, but haven't kept up. The problem: I had trouble logging onto local grocery to enter an order. Eventually got through to one of their techs, who told me my I.P. address was being used by a bot. They told me I should talk to my service provider, which I have not done yet.

What does this mean? What kinds of trouble am I at risk for? There's tech people here. Hoping for tips.

I know people try to downplay security beaches, like "Our investigation shows that most of the stolen passwords have not been actually used..."

But still, the physical address? How do they downplay that? "Our investigation shows that most of you live in such crummy neighbourhoods that I would never want to go there"?
