@joshb @EposVox EXACTLY THAT!

#Discord is worse than #Mailingists, #IRC and #Forums combined because those - like #GitHub #Issues or any other public site & server - can at least be #crawled and #archived in a #searchable fashion.

Whereas Discord is peak #Enshittification and not only #AntiAccessibility but also the worst kind of communication solution, as there isn't even any option to export stuff from within it - something even #Slack & #MicrosoftTeams can do [#Zulip has been able to do that from the start]...

Discord is a bad and wrong excuse not to provide #public documentation and/or downloads.

#GithubPages is free & #DDoS-protected #Webhosting and for fast downloads on the cheap, #BitTorrent exists for almost two decades now...

3. dort im Kasten "Join the index (step 2)" euer vollständiges Handle (@....@....) eingeben.
Danke!

@janl Good. The only way search is going to be accepted is if it's opt-in via something like a bio #searchable hashtag, or only the person's own timeline being searched, *and* the search platform doesn't cache the data. It's not an easy problem to solve. I'm not sure anything acceptable would give people that really want search what they want.

@ollien @evan @astrocow Sure, that's a part of it, though I believe that's a practical limitation of decentralization, not intentional design. But we're talking more about a behavioral choice. For example:

There's a big difference between letting people find your post like this.
#searchable

Versus #acting #like you're on #Instagram with a #checkerboard of #hashtags, which is just a #tactic to #chase #exposure. #cloutchaser #thirsty #useall500chars

Please revive hashtagging interests in #introductions.

Newcomers to the #fediverse benefit by knowing only #hashtagged words and phrases are #searchable, unlike #Twitter.
They'd have instant magic of fellowship by hashtagging their interests, like so:
#coffee #OnlyConnect
#fountainpens #geocaching
#learnpython #ADHD #snailmail
#silentmovies #reading #mysteries #linux

Also! You can #filter OUT terms you don't like to see, without blocking/muting accounts. Happier experience for all.
