Alternatively, pull and index an RSS feed of your own timeline. All public #mastodon accounts have a built-in RSS. Just add .rss to the end of the URL. So in my case: vmst.io/@user47.rss #Feditips #fediverse #tmyk #searchable #rss
#Discord is worse than #Mailingists, #IRC and #Forums combined because those - like #GitHub #Issues or any other public site & server - can at least be #crawled and #archived in a #searchable fashion.
Whereas Discord is peak #Enshittification and not only #AntiAccessibility but also the worst kind of communication solution, as there isn't even any option to export stuff from within it - something even #Slack & #MicrosoftTeams can do [#Zulip has been able to do that from the start]...
Discord is a bad and wrong excuse not to provide #public documentation and/or downloads.
#GithubPages is free & #DDoS-protected #Webhosting and for fast downloads on the cheap, #BitTorrent exists for almost two decades now...

@ActionRetro @stux @jan There was another project that asked for the #searchable hashtag. I don't remember what it was called, but i added the tag to my bio, as o quite liked that approach.

1. in Mastodon euer Profil bearbeiten und dort im Profiltext einen oder mehrere der Hashtags #tootfinder, #tfr oder #searchable unterbringen.
2. auf https://www.tootfinder.ch/ gehen
3. dort im Kasten "Join the index (step 2)" euer vollständiges Handle (@....@....) eingeben.

The only way search is going to be accepted is if it's opt-in via something like a bio #searchable hashtag, or only the person's own timeline being searched, *and* the search platform doesn't cache the data. It's not an easy problem to solve. I'm not sure anything acceptable would give people that really want search what they want.
