Cascading Steel Sheets
Well, there's a roof. Not very nice. But better than cancer plates. Might give it a pressure wash before and some paint after (with etch primer to stick, not like that green one there).

Hunting for a roof in various piles of hoarder treasures.
The house roof scraps looked promising. A bunch of triangular offcuts from when the house got a new roof. But upon sorting them by shape, only two triangles matched to form a rectangle, the rest were unmatched sides. Not enough.
The next option was galvanized metal sheets. Not as nice, already used a few times, but there's a big pile in the garden that needed sorting anyways.
Ants got disturbed and carried their eggs to safety and a frog hopped away into the thicket.
One pile for the scrap metal dealer, one pile small pieces to keep and one pile large pieces to check into further.
Breaking Europe’s #recycling in the name of saving it [#Promotedcontent]: Is Europe really facing a #scrap metal crisis, or it’s just a convenient policy narrative? With possible additional EU recycled metal export restrictions looming, the future of #recycling is on the line. Will the EU sacrifice its own recycling industry to bail out domestic manufacturers under the guise of decarbonisation? https://www.euractiv.com/section/eet/opinion/breaking-europes-recycling-in-the-name-of-saving-it/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=dlvr.it
Okay so, one of the local radio clubs got these Avaya things.
Outside of them doing VOIP and that one dude reportedly has two controllers for them, I don't really know anything about them.
Four G450's and three G430's.
Is there anything useful one could do with these, especially if they don't have any Avaya phones and don't plan on getting any?
Or should we just part these out?
Okay, now my project has been showcased by a popular youtuber Gamefromscratch, this is crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weCzARV_Cpk
Окей, теперь популярный ютубер Gamefromscratch сделал обзор на мой проект. Честно, такого я вообще не ожидал -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weCzARV_Cpk
45 gallons of scraps and offcuts from the last few projects. Going to wait for a little better weather to burn this. Of course I kept too many pieces better than these that’ll go in the next batch.

Today i'm announcing Scrap, a new visual programming language similar to Scratch or its forks, but with more advanced capabilities.
The program is written in pure C using raylib. For now the language is interpreted, but in the future i will make it compiled probably through LLVM.
Source code is here: https://github.com/Grisshink/scrap (There are also releases here: https://github.com/Grisshink/scrap/releases)

worst part of it is they aren't even taking the piss, they genuinely want to go back to days when a driver could get away with abandoning his #scrap #car in a poor area (and others could strip the vehicle in the street for whatever bits they wanted), as the Council didn't have the resources to trace it compared to today.. #environment #pollution
The #farm came with a few piles of steel like this one.
Gotta sort through it at some point, see what's raw materials, what's usable equipment and what is scrap steel to recycle (or weld some artwork from).
The previous owners offered to get someone to collect it (scrap steel has value). I said please leave it all :)
Already found a fence post I needed to mount the letterbox on. And picked a chunk to make a grill from.
As I'm not Canadian, I don't have a bunch of square drive things laying around, so had to make one from a threaded rod and some rusty scrap steel.
Filed the rod end to match the square profile of the grinder shaft, then welded thin strips onto the four sides and joined them, forming a square drive that plugs onto the grinder shaft.
It was quite fun to weld such small stuff. Bit of filing to clean it up and it fits well.
...
Crate upgrade.
Plenty of space for scrap steel now. Need to make another one for aluminium, but that doesn't need to be as strong.
The little steel box that sits on top is for small pieces, which are quite handy to keep as I often need to weld just a little piece onto something, like a handle or when fixing that quick release clamp.
I used the stitching pony to make this simple sheath for one of the #blacksmith knives I made at Rivers of Steel with Artifact metalworks from some #scrap #leather I’d picked up a while back. .

Made a pair of planters for the back yard. Planted with sweet peas, nasturtiums and pot marigolds. All the wood came out of skips, so the total cost was £24 - £9 for the screws, £11 for the compost and £4 for the gravel (which will hopefully deter cats from crapping in them). The red stain I already had. It’s amazing what you can do with the stuff people throw away. #SkipDiving #ReduceReuseRecycle #Scrap #Gardening #pollinators
