Just a reminder to why corporate GNU/Linux distros are a bad idea. This is an older video by @jay that I still think is very relevant. We should always support FOSS, especially community made distros. Corporate decisions, like Red Hat's shift with CentOS Stream, often demonstrate how business priorities can compromise open-source principles and community autonomy. That is why I won't use Ubuntu, Fedora, Pop_OS!, Tuxedo OS, or any other corporate backed distro. Now, Intel is just ending Clear Linux OS, further highlighting this vulnerability.

@gpowerf @artfulrobot but isn't project's region of origin only concern if you want to financially support given project? Off top of my head I can't recall anything that would be US specific change in and desktop developement. I guess something something or but I feel like that is a streach, but if you are still concerned, just prepare some transfer plans into diffrent distros if stuff were to blow up.

""The latest alpha of the upcoming #Blender 5.0 release comes with High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for #Linux on #Wayland […]

It’s been a lot of personal blood, sweat and tears, paid for by #RedHat across the Linux graphics stack for the last few years to enable applications like Blender to add #HDR support. From #kernel work, like helping to get the HDR mode working on Intel laptops, and improving the Colorspace and HDR_OUTPUT_METADATA KMS properties, to creating a new library for EDID and DisplayID parsing, and helping with wiring things up in #vulkan.

I designed the active color management paradigm for Wayland compositors, figured out how to properly support HDR, created two wayland protocols to let clients and compositors communicate the necessary information for active color management, and created documentation around all things color in FOSS graphics. This would have also been impossible without @pq from Collabora and all the other people I can’t possibly list exhaustively. […] ""

My guilty pleasure is old IT books (can I hashtag it as #RetroComputing ?). So I bought another treasure. It's a Russian translation of "Red Hat Fedora 4 Unleashed" by Andrew Hudson et al. Pretty huge tome (~1100 pages) from 2006. Blessed times indeed.
It covers everything from installation to administration to desktop usage to Python/PHP programming (in a nutshell).
Sweet bonus is a Fedora 4 installation DVD.
Rest assured, I immediately proceeded to the installation in a VM.

At #RedHat we are able to give each other "reward points" that we can redeem for "stuff". Many people choose to use there ones to buy vouchers, but I find it more fun to buy stuff directly from our reward store since in many cases it's stuff I probably wouldn't have got otherwise, including some Red Hat-branded things. It's been a while since I'd redeemed anything, and there are still some things to arrive but almost everything here apart from the plant and Lego box top left arrived this week
