Good afternoon and happy Saturday.
Been a day already. Errands in the morning, followed by a parade midday for the MDMRN Twins' sports team. Then lots of cleaning as my wife's family is coming over for her Mom's birthday.
Oh, and Little MDMRN is going to Jr Prom tonight, and their GF's family is coming here to take pre-prom pictures. So we were extra cleaning our house for newcomers.
So yea.
Life.
Hello SFBA! I’ve been wistfully thinking of switching over here for a while and recent fosstodon choices gave me the push I needed. So #introduction time!
I’m from #SanFrancisco and moved back here after some wandering. Raising two kids and a dog. Working in tech (sigh) but on #sustainability at least.

The White House has some plans to incentivize women to get pregnant — and we're not talking affordable healthcare, paid parental leave or better childcare. Lyz Lenz writes for her newsletter, Men Yell At Me, about incentives such as $5,000 baby bonuses, menstrual cycle charting and Fulbright scholarships. Then there's the fact that Donald Trump is styling himself as the "fertilization president." "Just the phrase 'fertilization president' made millions and millions of embryos in the bodies of women yeet themselves themselves right on out of their respective uteruses," Lenz says.
I went to softball practice with my youngest two yesterday at the park. Had to pee, so used the port-a-potty they had there.
Saw this note attached to the wall of the unit.
How many times does this need to happen before a port-a-potty company slaps this warning on them?
Good morning and happy Friday!
My oldest kid is going to the prom tomorrow and their girlfriend's family is likely going to be at my house at some point as the girlfriend is getting her makeup done near our house, so they suggested doing prom photos at our house. I have met them once.
So...yea, will need to clean for first time visitors.
Anyway, have a good morning and Friday!
On the one hand today was a bit shit at work.
On the other, I got to comfort a child who was afraid of a thunderstorm. So there’s that
Good morning and happy Wednesday!
Working this morning and...once again a little tired. Most mornings, that's the case. I did happen to get to the gym early, though, which is good.
Tonight is a middle school honor society event for my MDMRNia (13), so that'll be nice.
Hope you have a great one.
500km train ride today, with two kids.
Super smooth. Got about 4-5 hours of work done. No stress at all. Home by early afternoon, pretty relaxed.
(Ok, I used an upgrade to 1st class. That was nice, too.)
I asked Child B if they thought zebras were white with black stripes, or the other way around.
After careful consideration, they decided that the front half of a #zebra is white with black stripes, and the back half is black with white stripes. And if you look very carefully you can see where the halves meet.
Glad that's cleared up.
"About 41% of parents reported they approached talking with their child about puberty only when prompted by the child, according to a new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health released on Monday.
Only 36% of parents think it’s best to start puberty conversations before age 10, according to the poll, although puberty has been starting earlier."

"The horses and helicopters made national news, but intimate, microcosmic acts of tending and nurturing made life bearable for those who survived."

@mrundkvist that's why I take pics of the happy moments, every time I feel down for my missteps, I can go and see the good times too :)
Years after your kids have grown up, the thousands of mostly happy and friendly schoolday mornings you spent with them have blurred into one diffuse memory. The only mornings with the kids that you have individual memories of are the three when you lost your temper badly and said things you regret.
Good morning and Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
It is almost 8, and my kids aren't up. The difference it makes when they all are older and know that me & their Mom are the Bunny. Here's a picture of their baskets.
Hope you all have a blessed day!
Can anyone recommend any good games for preschool kids on iPad? #parenting
