This month, 13 fmr employees signed a letter urging #Palantir to stop its endeavors w/ #Trump. Linda Xia, a signee who was a Palantir engineer until last year, said the problem was not w/the company’s #tech but w/how the Trump admin intended to use it.

#Data that is collected for one reason should not be repurposed for other uses,” Xia said. “Combining all that data, even with the noblest of intentions, significantly increases the risk of misuse.”

Some current & former #Palantir employees have been unnerved by the work. The company risks becoming the face of #Trump’s political agenda, 4 employees said, & could be vulnerable if #data on Americans is breached or hacked. Several tried to distance the company from the efforts, saying any decisions about a merged database of personal #information rest w/Trump & not the firm.

Reps of #Palantir are also speaking to at least 2 other agencies—#SocialSecurity [#SSA] & the #IRA — about buying its technology, acc/to 6 govt ofcls & Palantir employees w/knowledge of the discussions.

The push has put a key #Palantir product called Foundry into at least 4 federal agencies, including #DHS & #HHS. Widely adopting Foundry, which organizes & analyzes #data, paves the way for #Trump to easily merge #information from different agencies, govt ofcls said.

In particular, they have turned to one company: #Palantir, the #data analysis & #technology firm.
#Trump expanded Palantir’s work across the #FederalGovernment in recent months. The company has received >$113M in federal govt spending since Trump took office, acc/to public records, including additional funds from existing contracts as well as new contracts w/ #DHS & the #Pentagon. (Not including a $795M contract that the Dept of #Defense awarded the company last wk…)

Elon Musk's DOGE drove the selection of Palantir to compile data on Americans across agencies including Social Security and IRS - which would give Trump untold surveillance power

"Now *this* is frightening. I've long said the greatest threat to privacy isn't web cookies but govt--more than ever this govt & this evil empire, #Palantir.

On the other hand, I am quite angry about #palantir, #facebook, and other Trojan horses undermining our free democracy. If we don't make a stand and get our shit together, this won't end well.

"KPMG’s contract raises a real question: if [Palantir’s] software is so good, why does the government need to give £8 million of taxpayers’ money to a management consultancy to encourage NHS hospitals to use it?”

Another set of Streeting's dodgy deals.

proud to live in a city where its public service provider managed to build a much cheaper and more effective alternative to whatever Palantir has provided to NHS - and cooperating with local company & university on top of that.

this is how it should be done. and Palantir should be thrown out.

#Trump ally #ElonMusk's #rocket & #satellite company #SpaceX has emerged as a frontrunner alongside #software firm #Palantir & #drone maker #Anduril to build key components of the system, Reuters reported last month.

Many of the early systems are expected to come from existing production lines. Attendees at the WhiteHouse presser w/Trump on Tues named #L3Harris, #LockheedMartin & #RTXCorp as potential contractors for the massive project.

IMO all software that public sectors & services use should be made in-house. either by internal software developers or by franchising with local companies that can create it.

letting foreign companies into public services is a massive no-no under any circumstances (especially companies like #Palantir) - and it's sad governments don't get it.

not just in UK though.

"The paper also noted that "FDP is not a like-for-like alternative to" Greater Manchester's Analytics and Data Science Platform (ADSP), which "has a greater range of purposes, capabilities, and uses than FDP." theregister.com/2025/05/21/gre - yet in spite of all that, millions will be flushed down the toilet for useless Palantir contract.

letting companies like Palantir to the public services is one of the dumbest ever decisions.
