MPI for the Science of Light<p>At <a href="https://wisskomm.social/tags/MPL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MPL</span></a>, researchers explore questions at the interface of ›non-hermitian physics‹ and ›topology‹. The image shows the energies of a 2D lattice as toroidal surfaces above the Brillouin zone. Due to the non-Hermiticity of the underlying model, these surfaces may be glued together at so-called branch cuts. On the torus, the branch cuts can form non-contractible loops. </p><p>Structures like these are highly robust against perturbations.</p><p>More 👉 <a href="https://mpl.mpg.de/research-at-mpl/independent-research-groups/kunst-research-group" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mpl.mpg.de/research-at-mpl/ind</span><span class="invisible">ependent-research-groups/kunst-research-group</span></a></p><p>📸 Anton Montag / Alexander Felski</p>

Hank G ☑️Right now it is in a very ugly and temperamental unfinished alpha state but at this point when I'm away from home I'm almost exclusively using using my Flutter-based Friendica mobile client not the browser almost exclusively. Once it has a bit more polish I'll make some posts and open it up for early access. You can follow along in the repo already since it is MPL open source. Most active branch is the "initial-workflow". Several features need the latest develop branch of the Friendica server software which is what is making me hold off on opening this up more too.
