Did the scariest part of the #minirack project today: setting up the power.
I replaced the 300w power supply in the server with a 600w one, discovering halfway through that I needed to build my own connector to fit the 14-pin motherboard power socket.
Then I ran extra 12v, 5v, and ground wires out the back and up the sides of the frame, and cut off the ends of the individual power supplies to wire them instead to the rack power.
The whole thing now runs off one powerpoint! I still need to do cable management, but there was no point in doing that until I knew my idea would work.

This weeks stupidity… I made a mini 5u HomeLab for my HomeAssistant and PiHole boxes that sit inside an Ikea storage crate.
Includes a Pi5 16GB, Pi 3b+, Pi Zero W2 and a Pimoroni Badger for stats.

Was busy this week in work. Two project go-lives coincided because of the dates shifting on both sides. Not fun.
Managed to get my new firewall running and made sure my minilab was setup.
Taking a week off now after the projects in work. Will be doing some much needed home admin.

Enfin pris le temps de mettre à jour mon vieux rack jadis bricolé avec une étagère en bambou. Place à quelque chose de plus sobre et carré, imprimé en 3D.
Et les câbles arc-en-ciel c'est le bonus déco.
Some shit i'm not really feeling so far as I try #smartOS and it's probably me!! They say use bhyve it's better cause kvm is old.... no documentation on how to get bhyve really working. VNC doesn't seem to want to work with bhyve. I'm sure i'm missing some setting somewhere that only someone knows in some discord server.
