Had a great time playing B17 for January's game with @dosgameclub!
I play it a lot, but really enjoyed chatting with people about it, and maybe helping a few encountering it for the first time.

20 years of development to the milestone of 1.0 - this free & open source Colonization revision FreeCol is out for totally libre gaming pleasure!
20 years ago, they made the first public release of FreeCol. Releases have, until now, been marked as alpha/beta. Now towards 2.0 (Colonization 2 "could have been").
Let's note that FreeCol downloads has long been counted in millions.
B17 Flying Fortress:
First, the mostly important task in the game. Naming your aircraft and choosing suitably patriotic and/or smutty nose-art!
Except when the low pixel count means the eyes follow you around Northern Europe.

It's not got the historical context of the Microprose manual, is longer than the great Technical Supplement, but hopefully it helps people get started if they haven't played before.
Can't wait to play/help/chat about this amazing sim!

Quit Screens
I'm no quitter, but Microprose made Alt-Q all better with their awesome quit screens. Actually trying out Lightspeed (Hyperspeed's precursor) just now, after realising I'd never played it. For years, I'd only ever passively known of its existence via this screen from F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0.
