Time to refuel.

After 20 litres, the fuel in the diesel tank rose 3½ inches. A home-made dipstick went in 27 inches (see photo). The mathematics suggested that, in theory, the tank should hold 154 litres.

Reality suggested otherwise. The shape of the tank is unknown.

At the start, the fuel level was low but not empty. After adding 200 litres, there was space for about 20 litres more.
