Datenpunks<p><strong>Am 27. Mai 2025 findet unsere nächste Linux-Install-Party in Bielefeld, Mühlenstraße 5 statt</strong></p><p>Auf so gut wie jedem PC ist derzeit das Betriebssystem Microsoft Windows vorinstalliert. Der wachsende Datenhunger von Microsoft sowie das Ende des Supportzeitraumes von Windows 10 in diesem Jahr liefert aber immer mehr gute Gründe, sich nach einer Alternative umzusehen.</p><p>Wir wollen in dieser Veranstaltung GNU/Linux als kostenlose Alternative zu Windows vorstellen, für dessen Betrieb schon lange keine Programmier- oder Kommandozeilenkenntnisse mehr vonnöten sind.</p><p>Wir bereiten bootbare USB-Sticks vor, auf denen verschiedene Linux-Distributionen zum unverbindlichen Ausprobieren bereitstehen. Manche sagen ja, dass beim Download via HTTPS schon automatisch Prüfsummen gebildet und gecheckt werden. Das schützt uns aber nicht vor schlechten Speichermedien und wackligen USB-Ports. Wir hatten bei der Vorbereitung dieser und der vorigen <a href="https://fedifreu.de/tags/LinuxInstallParty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxInstallParty</span></a> Checksummen-Fehler erlebt.</p><p>Deshalb gibt es auf unseren neuen Multi-Boot-Sticks für jede ISO-Datei eine weitere Datei, die auf .sha256 oder .sha512 endet. Um z.B. das Image <code>debian12-xfce.iso</code> zu checken, gibt man unter Linux oder macOS <code>shasum -c debian12-xfce.iso.sha512</code> ein.</p><p>Um es einfacher zu machen, alle ISOs auf einmal zu checken, habe ich außerdem alle Prüfsummen nochmal in einer Datei abgelegt, die man so prüfen kann: <code>shasum -c SHASUMS</code>. Das kann dann allerdings ein Stündchen dauern.</p>

Wenn wir @Datenpunks am Mittwoch 18:30 Uhr im Klimabüro Gütersloh mit dem FSUB e.V. eine Linux-Install-Party veranstalten, haben wir natürlich frische Multi-Boot-Sticks dabei, die wir zum Hardware-Preis (5€) abgeben. Darauf haben wir 21 Betriebssystemvarianten hinterlegt, die vor Ort unverbindlich ausprobiert oder auch gleich installiert werden können.

Aktueller Anlass: Im Oktober stellt Microsoft den Support für #Windows10 ein. #Windows11 will sich auf vielen Computern nicht installieren lassen, obwohl die noch völlig in Ordnung sind. Mit GNU/Linux laufen sie weiter sicher und sogar flott.

Alle sind willkommen (außer Nazis). Eintritt frei! Bringt einen Laptop mit! Macht vorher ein Backup! Linux-Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.
