SubstackJanette McClelland on SubstackBlog #21. Had my second surgery last week. An implant in my buttocks. It'll help with the wardrobe malfunctions I inevitably have whenever I'm in public. I'll still be monitored by my medical team. Have to see the colon specialist this week. Then my regular rheumatology follow-up for lupus. Then more pelvic physical therapy. And then the cancer surgeon and kidney doctor. My A1C was 6.1 last week when I saw my primary care doctor for the regular follow-up. Still need to lose a lot of weight. Kinda hard to do when I've been on bed rest for most of the past month. I've been in front of the TV all day. And it's disgusting. Other than cartoons and sports,it's all politics and bullshit. And racially motivated. Saw the protests back home in LA against the immigration raids. Unfortunately,I know people back home in South Central and Inglewood who are SUPPORTING la migra. Because they stupidly think that they'll get those jobs that the immigrants had. 70 years ago,Black people worked those jobs. My mom did. So did my grandma,aunts and cousins. Guess what? Those same people who are harassing the immigrants? 70 years ago,they harassed Black people who were simply trying to upgrade their lives. And they would love to do that again. Let us not forget that. Anyway,I'm not watching a lot of TV. Not interested in negativity. I'll watch the Super Bowl next Sunday. As usual,I'll keep with an almost 50-year tradition of only watching the GAME itself. No pregame. No anthems. No halftime. No postgame. Even if the Philadelphia Eagles win,I won't tune in for the postgame show. (OK,maybe I'll watch Action News and see folks make a damn fool of themselves climbing the trolley wire at Frankford & Cottman…) There's no need for 10 hours of pregame bullshit. I could care less about whom the Simpsons are picking to win the Super Bowl. Not interested in hearing about Kitchen Nightmares or the Masked Singer. And I'm definitely not interested in seeing the president being asked softball questions on a football show. Just show the damn GAME. Period. Already filed my taxes. Hopefully I'll get my $ before the end of the month. Want to save up enough money for a trip home to LA to visit the graves later this year. Got into a couple of nasty arguments with my brother. The usual verbal and emotional abuse. Something I don't need to hear right now. I've heard those things my entire life. My self-esteem and anger issues are a result of having to endure that shit for 63 years. I used the things I've learned in PTSD recovery to distract myself from the negativity. Though at one point I thought about calling 988 to get in touch with a therapist or someone who could listen. My doctors are trying to get me in with someone. I've got a lot on my plate. I've been on the verge of lashing out at someone or anyone for a while. Right now I'm frustrated,yes. But we all are,aren't we?
