the magnificent rhys
Her dire warning against suspending Diane Abbot is pretty funny though since she was indeed suspended just two hours after Toynbee posted her piece: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g8v33g1dgo

I'm not sure anyone would welcome a contribution on race from a mediocre white dude, but I really don't like how she admits her precious apology and withdrawal of comments was effectively bullshit. the magnificent rhys
There's no chance of an election any time soon, but a wee reminder that these people depended on the Labour Party and its repaired and renewed platform to get elected is no bad thing — particularly as we approach a vote on the child benefit cap, where the backbenchers are on the opposite side of the electorate and where another rebellion is likely.

#UKPolitics #UKPol #Labour

the magnificent rhys
Ehhh, fair contribution but I think this is a rare miss from Toynbee.

Starmerism is best characterised as a mix of Wilsonism and Blairism, but Labour's story under Starmer has also been Kinnockian, imposing professionalism, seriousness, and competence on a party plagued by chaos. In Ilford North, Leanne Mohamad and the British left set their sights on Labour

A new coalition, angry at Labour's response to Gaza and failure to challenge the rich, believes it can defeat MPs like Wes Streeting

On stage, a young #British-#Palestinian woman is joined by two lions of the political left: Andrew Feinstein, a former ANC member of the South African parliament turned campaigner and arms trade investigator, and Jeremy Corbyn, the former #Labour Party leader turned independent MP.

Aged 24, #LeanneMohamad, born and raised in Ilford, ran as an independent candidate against Health Secretary Wes Streeting, the Labour right-wing's favoured son and a man tipped as a future prime minister, in the #UK's 2024 General Election.

Surfing a rising tide of anger about Labour's response to #Israel's war on #Gaza, Mohamad lost by just 528 votes.
