My half-baked idea for a #Comedon online watch party inspired by #Monsterdon has gotten a lot of positive response and people have been liking the idea of watching Duck Soup.
There was one reply that Duck Soup has humor that might be problematic. For sure, but that's always going to be true of historical media, and perhaps especially with humor. And the joy of the Marx Brothers is they make fun of everybody. I'd hope people can both enjoy the funny, and also feel free to use the hashtag to point out things that make them go "hmm."
I'm still a bit reluctant to take on a long-term organizer role but let's make this thing happen by picking a time to watch Duck Soup. I don't think it should compete with #Monsterdon or #KungFuSat (which I just learned about) but I'm inclined not to it on Fridays so that means looking at weekday evenings. And I'm on the west coast of North America so my evening may not be your evening.
Unless someone can make a compelling case not to, let's watch the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup on
*Thursday February 13 at 18:00 (6:00PM) Pacific Time/GMT+8*
If this is a lousy time for you (Hello Europe!) feel free to use the hashtag to set up another viewing.
Here's one free place to watch Duck Soup:
