All of those things are observable and countable phenomenon. That means, all of them can be the basis of a key result.
"But we can't set a goal about that: we don't control those things happening!"

Truly aspirational stretch goals take us into unknown territory. They're experiments that are so important to run, we write goals around what we hope to be able to influence; not only what we can control.

But leading indicators serve as critical data that may give you objective data on which to assess your progress, and, to inform decisionmaking.

Makes me think about how #ChangeFailureRate is defined in #DORA.
En #entreprise, on aime les #kpi et le #client est central.
Dès lors, on aime prendre comme #kpi le #TauxDeSatisfaction des clients.
Mon #intuition c'est que c'est un #KPI démotivant.
Plus le service s'améliore, plus les attentes des clients augmentes ce qui mène à une #stagnation du #TauxDeSatisfaction.

In fact the latter ones did that #LyingWithNumbers for #KPI so hard on the @linux / #Linux #Kernel that they were close to getting #banned from the #LKML and #git.
Instead they got called out that their "code cleanup" commits are not appreciated as code #readability is being a priority in #Linux!

Was ist euere Sicht zum Thema #KPI?
Frau Budelmann schreibt in der #WiWo: „Fangen wir also an, zunächst einmal die Strukturen abzuschaffen, die eine Belegschaft demotivieren! Geben wir den Menschen statt irgendwelcher KPI in ihrem Job lieber Verantwortung, einen tieferen Sinn, eine knifflige Aufgabe! Die Motivation kommt dann von ganz allein.“
Ich sehe es etwas differenzierter und glaube, dass #Messung und Abschaffung von demotivierenden Strukturen Hand in Hand gehen.

@AlgoCompSynth @thomasjwebb @shanselman I don't really buy the cost cutting aspect to be honest.
They are a for profit company so they need to be able to provide some #KPI like monthly active users, etc. So they'd rather force you to access their platform to access their content and advertisement where they can control the experience.
It was probably underused as well so no real risk of a backlash for them.
