Actually, I think the #Kore remote control app for #Kodi can send a file to be played. It would still require the download first, though.

I am doing well with #libreelec / #kodi and the #android #kore app and a dumb TV.

I am doing this with an older #raspberrypi ( not sure about Version, but it is old), however I recommend checking if the #raspberry is powerful enough to decode what you like, e.g. h265

In unserem Haushalt sind aktuell nur noch drei RaspberryPi im Einsatz.
Das liebste Projekt ist unser RPi2.

Seit ~8Jahren hängt er am TV mit #LibreELEC also #Kodi mit den #YouTube, #Invidious und früher auch mal mit dem #PeerTube Plugin von @framasoft. Leider werden für das Plugin seit langem keine Updates mehr bereitgestellt.

Auf den Mobilgeräten der Familie läuft #Kore mit dessen Hilfe u.a. die Inhalte von #NewPipe und #Zapp (besonders der Mediathek) via Kodi geteilt werden.

@Matter oh, that's really cool. I used #Kore once before but didn't realize it had a cast feature. This definitely solves part of the puzzle. I don't have wireless speakers though, so I'm not sure about airplay, but if I find something equivalent for audio, I'll have found radiophonic bliss.
