#Israel / Herzog: My words were distorted at ICJ to support an unfounded legal contention
Remember when Itzkhak Herzog genocidaly declared “It is an entire nation out there that is responsible,” as Israel ordered 1.1 million Palestinians to evacuate their homes? Well, with #JCP preliminary ruling over is head, as he was mentioned by name, he’s now disgusted how his words were taken out of context and twisted.
[October 12, 2023] “It is not true this rhetoric about civilians not being aware, not involved. It’s absolutely not true. They could have risen up. They could have fought against that evil regime which took over Gaza in a coup d’etat.”
When asked what he meant by that he made it very clear:
“that makes them, by implication, legitimate targets,” and then added “Of course there are many, many innocent Palestinians who don’t agree to this — but unfortunately in their homes, there are missiles shooting at us, at my children.”
He now believes that: "The State of Israel sees great importance in the humanitarian aspect of the campaign. Israel is committed to this, and operates, as it has always operated and will operate, in accordance with international law. There are also innocent Palestinians in Gaza. I am deeply sorry for the tragedy they are going through."
