Maggie Maybe<p>I’m not keeping track or anything but this is at least the fourth Reddit post in the past few days I’ve seen where someone either got an overpayment notice from Social Security because someone worked under their Social Security number, or there was a tax return filed.</p><p>You can get a pin from the IRS, they’ll mail you a new one every year and you need it to file your tax return. Just know that once you ask them for it you can never make it stop. You can never take it back. I tried. The three different people I talked to at the IRS told me they’ve never had anyone ask them to take it off. And if you don’t get the pin number in the mail you can’t file your tax returns.</p><p>And that also won’t stop someone from working as you under your Social Security number.</p><p>But the fact that the IRS told this person that only an employer can issue a W-2 makes me think that IRS employee is 18 years old.
