But there are more issues:</p><p>Instagram is originally a photo website, but has nowadays also video's, live-streams and so called stories (a kind of scrapbook that has privacy issues). Unfortunately people also use Instagram for event announcements and such. These are mostly text images with accessibility issues (mostly not alt-text). Another huge issue in Instagram is that you can't put links to websites in the captions (text next to the images). People invented al kinds of workarounds to be able to link to other sites (like 'see link in bio', using 'linktr.ee', etc). I don't know why this is, but I suspect that Instagram/Meta wants to keep you swiping and to make sure Instagram stays an image only site.</p><p>But also if you only use it for <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/photos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photos</span></a> it's a hellsite! Like that you can't open photo's in fullscreen or zoom. There's also not an option to make collections (only for the inferior privacy invasive stories). The only reason people use Instagram is for reach, but than you can better use Facebook if you insist in fascist Meta. </p><p>Better use <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@pixelfed" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>pixelfed</span></a></span> or <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@vernissage" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>vernissage</span></a></span> if you're a photographer.
