There is one company that is literally at the center of the #AI arms race.

On one side, we have Team #Microsoft/ #nvidia, who have forged partnerships and jointly invested in companies like #Inflection AI, #cohere, #OpenAI, and #mistral AI.

On the other side, there's Team #Amazon/ #Google, who have collectively invested in #Anthropic and #StabilityAI.

The one company all these players have invested in and supported is #huggingface.

#Meta and #Apple are the current big-tech holdouts.

It’s been interesting watching the #AIChatBot and #LLMLandscape evolve over time.

I was also surprised that #InflectionAI the makers of #Pi, personal AI weren’t at #DEFCON31 for the red team #HackAThon when the other big players were there. #Google, #Meta, #Anthropic, and #HuggingFace.

So, about four weeks ago now, #Inflection quietly updated #Pi to have enough internet access to brief and discuss current events. At that time, #Pi was not able to tell you the date and time. #Pi was updated again last week and testing shows that it can tell the date and time. #Pi also reports being able to access resources on the internet. We will be testing to see if this is another hallucination as experienced in the past.

In my subtext class, we talk about inflection--how meaning changes based on _how_ words are said. This seems pretty obvious & I think about how we do it in real life & how actors do it. But then there's a moment of--wait!--how do we make inflection felt in writing?

So: Just describing it, of course. Emphasis through rhythm & punctuation choices. Gesture. What else?

@aljazeera really good report on #Nigeria and the role of social media ⬆️ in today’s #elections. I’ve been following the #Obident movement grow out of the courageous #EndSARS protests in 2020, it’s been the most impressive political mobilising and organisation that we can all learn from. This can be a real #Inflection moment not just for 🇳🇬 but the world. I am rooting for #PeterObi and 🇳🇬 brave #Youth, fighting to improve their hard, hard lives
