02/25/2024 At Brazos Bend S.P. A White Ibis caught a crawfish & a Boat Tailed Grackle swooped in for meal theft. After a rapid series of grabs vs. evasions, the Grackle gave up. "Behavioral Flexibility" of Grackles means they may show up anywhere. More pics: https://www.rickubis.com/rick/mycam.html

FYI I’ve been trying to remember the 2 folks I met here via Mastodon that are very familiar with grackles and their intelligence in research. Pretty sure they both are acquainted with @ct_bergstrom so maybe if I put his name here it will summon them here. Not kidding, it was in discussion about how intelligent Covid’s are. Mastodon really does have nerd-quality topics.
