Ich war bislang auch eher gegen einen #DigitalenEuro.
Da man jedoch bargeldlose Zahlungen nicht vermeiden kann--und viele dies auch gar nicht wollen (-> #Convenience-Orientierung, Bsp. #Skandinavien mit extrem hohen Nutzerquoten) ist es definitiv besser, den #Datenschutz und die #Datensicherheit in der #EuropäischenUnion zu regeln, anstatt dies den großen #US-Multis zu überlassen, zumal diese im Zweifel meißt auch mit #US-Behörden kooperieren und nicht nur, ohne #GDPDR.

Everything you ever saw or wrote on your device, even if deleted, will remain in definitely remain available and searchable for users of the device, including #hackers.
Opting out requires work.

Also, in my view, I doubt that it is #GDPDR compliant in its current form.

Changing the fine print might not work either, as this constitutes a major change and could be considered an invalid surprise clause in many countries.

Erring on the wrong side of #GDPDR (#DSGVO) might prove costly when decided upon by the #CJEU some years in the future.

I'd say opting for #OptOut as an instance might be a considerable business risk.

Absolutely not!
However, hardly anyone will stop #Elmo from doing what he set out to do, burning billions in the process.
He is on target, IMO, but this will, as explained, facilitate the job of a non-GQP DOJ from 2025 onwards.
I foresee a huge chunk of right-wing users switching to #Bluesky after #X.

BTW, I am not sure if #EU #GDPDR doesn’t prohibit him from doing it in that jurisdiction, but that will not have much impact on US users, I guess.

The erstwhile "Don't be evil"-Company is joined by the #RottenApple to destroy the WWW as we know it.

If #Google has its way, people using older devices or special-needs browsers might not be able to access many websites anymore.
Also, the way the author and I see it, this way to use Personally Identifyable Information (#PII) might be in breach of data-privacy laws in some countries, in particular the #EU's #GDPDR.

Yes, but as discussed in the last couple of days, for some of us, bringing their #toots with them is a must-have.

As #GDPDR requires only that I can download my stuff, for me, this is a no-go.

We had a small discussion group, and one of our our participants went back to to his admin why important them is not a standard feature.
He came back with the answer that this is for liability reasons.

Very true.

This should take care of itself, though. Twitter's in breech of the #EU's data-privacy laws, #GDPDR, forcing people to provide their #geolocation or agreeing to agree to personalized content are two examples.
Furthermore, it is on collision course with a key democratic principles. This could entail massive fines.
