Es kommt vom lateinischen #fasces was so viel heißt wie "Bündel" "Bündelung" (von Macht)

Even if I am not a car person, and think that city planning based on cars is an abomination, I am able to appreciate beautiful cars when I see them. From a purely aesthetic point of view, that is. Like this modern #Fiat 500. In a dull colour it would be meh, but this bright yellow nails it! Chef’s kiss.

How #Stellantis managed to build such a nice EV (#Fiat 500e) and, in the same time, create an absolute atrocity of an App for it will always be their secret.

If I had followed my urge to throw my iPhone against the wall each time this PoS makes me angry beyond reason, I would have already spent more money for new phones that I did for the f-ing car!

FIAT was, for many years, a leading manufacturer. It innovated and produced cars with cutting-edge technical solutions. Then, for a long time, they decided it was no longer a technician and car enthusiast at the helm, but rather an accountant. They realized they could produce subpar cars and still sell them, threatening layoffs and forcing the state to pump in a lot, a *lot* of money. When Marchionne arrived, things changed—some for the better, some for the worse—but he tried to erase the provincialism and modernize the whole thing. Now there’s Stellantis, and they’ve decided FIAT will make quirky cars in quirky colors to "reflect Italian flair." I hear the Panda (a city car in production since the early 80s) is now called *Pandina*—a nickname, but I wonder who will buy a car with that name. And I can't help but wonder if all this is some sort of revenge against the former competitor...

I spent most of the day on the car today. Some good progress but a lot of set backs. Nothing is ever straightforward!

I gave up on the handbrake issue as I’m really not sure what the fault is after an hour or so of fiddling. I’ll defer to the garage on what is going on there.

I turned my focus to the front brakes and got one side done, even if one of the disc retention bolts needed drilling out.

I then made the mistake of thinking I’d just quickly swap a suspension drop link while I was there, of course that rounded off. I’m sure I used to have an angle grinder but it is nowhere to be found I’ve had to order a new one to deal with that one.

If I can get everything except the handbrake issue fixed myself I think I’ll call that a win.

Done a service on the Punto and discovered the oil was last done in 2023 or later so that’s good. Spark plugs looked knackered though, so glad I sorted them.

However I’ve fixed exactly 0 of the MoT test failures. I suspect the handbrake issue might be a snapped cable but I’ve run out of time today to investigate. Front brakes should be easy in theory, now I can get the wheels off…
